Itinerary
Day 1 Negombo
Arrive in Negombo and meet your fellow travellers.
Day 2 Negombo to Kandy
Today drive to Kandy, visiting a spice plantation en route where you will learn about the medicinal uses of various herbs. Continue to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is said to house a tooth of Lord Buddha.
Day 3 Kandy
Today is free to explore Kandy. You may wish to walk around the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya to see over 300 varieties of Sri Lankan 0rchids amongst other plants. Or visit a local Ayurveda centre and learn about the treatments and their benefits.
Day 4 Kandy to Ella
Travel to the historic town of Nuwara Eliya and enjoy some free time. Continue the journey to the green valleys of the Ella area, where you will spend the next two nights in Amba Estate, an organic farm and guesthouse.
Day 5 Ella
Start your morning with a tour through the tea plantation. Learn about traditional hand-rolling techniques used in tea production before you taste a cup of truly fresh tea from one of the world’s most renowned tea regions. Enjoy free time to take in the stunning scenery, opt to hike to Ella Rock or visit Ella town by tuk-tuk. This evening, watch a demonstration of Sri Lankan cooking.
Day 6 Ella to Udawalawe NP
Begin the day with a drive to Udawalawe National Park and visit the Elephant Transit Home. Enjoy an afternoon safari and keep an eye out for mighty Sri Lankan elephants, often seen wandering along the road. Tonight relax with a barbecue dinner around the campfire.
Day 7 Udawalawe NP to Unawatuna
Drive to Galle for a tour of the fort, a 400 year old historic masterpiece, built by the Portuguese and later occupied by the Dutch. Explore more of this interesting city and take in its architecture and lively atmosphere before heading to Unawatuna.
Day 8 Unawatuna
Amongst the palm-lined beaches of Unawatuna your adventure ends today after breakfast.
