Itinerary
Day 1 Kathmandu
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon city tour of Kathmandu’s historic highlights including the UNESCO World Heritage listed Durbar Square and Hanuman Dhoka, the royal palace.
Day 2 Kathmandu to Pokhara
Today it is a long but scenic drive to the lakeside town of Pokhara. Here you will receive a pre-trek briefing to assist you with preparing and packing for tomorrow’s trek.
Day 3 Pokhara to Modi Khola Valley
Meet with your guide and porters before transferring to Lumle, the starting point for your trek. Today’s easy three hour hike follows a ridgeline before dropping down to the Modi Khola Valley. Your home for the night, Birethanti Lodge, enjoys stunning views of Machhapuchhre mountain. After lunch there is an optional walk to nearby Birethanti, a lovely village with tea shops and souvenir stalls.
Day 4 Modi Khola Valley to Majgaon
This morning begin the steady two hour climb up to your next lodge, situated close to the picturesque village of Majgaon. In the afternoon relax at Majgaon Lodge or choose to explore the neighbouring villages.
Day 5 Majgaon to Dhampus
Today’s relatively easy four hour trek takes you through the sub-tropical forest. Keep an eye out for the colourful orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias which line the route. Pass through the quaint village of Pothana, home to many Tibetan traders and a good place to pick up some souvenirs. Arrive at Dhampus Lodge where the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the entire Annapurna mountain range.
Day 6 Dhampus to Pokhara
After breakfast it’s an easy 90 minute trek downhill through woods and terraced farmland to the valley floor at Phedi. Bid farewell to your trekking guide and porters and transfer back to Pokhara.
Day 7 Pokhara
Spend the day sightseeing in Pokhara with your guide. Stops include the beautiful 17th Century Bindhya Basini Temple, the Gurkha Museum, the World Peace Pagoda and a Tibetan refugee settlement. Finish the day with a magical boat ride on Lake Phewa, the second largest lake in Nepal.
Day 8 Pokhara to Kathmandu
Take the opportunity to do some souvenir shopping in Pokhara or simply enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning the long drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 9 Kathmandu
Head out on a morning excursion to the medieval town of Bhaktapur, an enchanting place to visit which is famous for its ceramic industry. Later transfer to the airport.
Additional Options: An early morning scenic flight to see Mount Everest provides an unforgettable bird’s eye view of the mighty Himalayas including the world’s highest peak. Simply add an additional night in Kathmandu to any of our Nepal tours to make sure you don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
