Itinerary
Days 1-2 Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and explore India’s capital. Take a rickshaw tour through the narrow streets of Old Delhi and shop for bargains in one of the city’s legendary bazaars. Take time out from the frenetic pace of Delhi with a visit to a Sikh temple.
Day 3 Delhi to Agra
Jump aboard an express train to Agra this morning and visit the world-famous Taj Mahal. Take an optional excursion to Akbar’s Mausoleum, a beautiful sandstone tomb built for the famous Mughal emperor.
Day 4 Agra to Madhogarh
Travel through rural Rajasthan to your overnight stay at a historic royal family residence. Explore the village and meet traditional craftspeople for an insight into local life.
Days 5-6 Madhogarh to Jaipur
Stop at the Amber Fort before arriving at Jaipur, one of India’s best loved destinations. Discover the local markets and bazaars on a walking tour of the ’Pink City’. Day 6 is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 7 Jaipur to Ranthambore NP
Ranthambore National Park was a former hunting ground for maharajas. Try to spot the elusive tiger on an afternoon game drive (Oct - Jun only) and look out for deer and monkeys. Between July and September, visit Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary instead.
Day 8 Ranthambore NP to Bundi
Leave Ranthambore National Park behind and travel to Bundi. Admire stunning murals at the palace which dominates the cityscape and explore the enchanting alleyways that snake through the city.
Days 9-10 Bundi to Bijaipur
Travel to Paangarh by train and spend the night camping under the stars beside the lake in the grounds of a fortified mansion, run by a local family. On day 10, enjoy a drive in open jeeps through the countryside, stopping at rural villages en route to Bijaipur.
Days 11-12 Bijaipur to Udaipur
Your Rajasthan adventure continues with a two night stay in Udaipur. Surrounded by mountains the city boasts a beautiful setting. Take a guided walk and explore the City Palace, home to an incredible antique collection. Why not also take an optional boat ride on Lake Pichola?
Day 13 Udaipur to Pushkar
Take a train to Ajmer before transferring onward by road to Pushkar, one of India’s holiest places. Stroll around the lake watching local life go by and visit one of the few Brahma temples in India. At lunchtime, share a meal with a local family and learn about life in this desert city.
Day 14 Pushkar to Delhi
You may choose to rise early for a sunrise hike to the Savitri Temple for wonderful views over the town. Afterwards, take the Shatabdi Express train back to Delhi.
Day 15 Delhi
Your tour ends this morning.
