Itinerary
Day 1 Thimphu
On arrival in Paro you will be met by your Aman guide who will remain with you throughout your time in Bhutan. Drive to 5★ Amankora Thimphu. Later head out on a half day tour of the kingdom’s charming capital.
Day 2 Thimphu
Start this morning with a short easy hike to Cheri Goemba Monastery before visiting some of the capital’s cottage industries and an impressive medieval fortress. Later there is the chance for a private meeting with the charming Mynak Trulku, the reincarnation of a powerful Buddhist lama.
Day 3 Thimphu to Punakha
Today drive to 5★ Amankora Punakha. On the way visit Chimi Lhakhang, the auspicious fertility monastery built in 1499.
Day 4 Punakha
Start with a moderate hike to the stunning Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, followed by a visit to the impressive Punakha Dzong, set at the confluence of two rivers.
Day 5 Punakha to Paro
The journey to Paro includes wonderful views as you cross the Dochula Pass (3,088m). Stop for a picnic in a peaceful spot before arriving at 5★ Amankora Paro.
Day 6 Paro
Spend today exploring Paro. After lunch view the beautifully preserved wall paintings at Dumtse Lhakhang.
Day 7 Paro
This morning hike up to the sacred Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery (3,120m). The moderate hike there and back takes around 3-5 hours. After lunch, drive to the 7th Century twin temples of Kyichu Lhakhang, some of the first temples built in the country. Light a butter lamp here and learn about the ancient Buddhist traditions that are still practised today.
Day 8 Paro
Bid farewell to your guide this morning and transfer to the airport.
