Itinerary
Day 1 Zurich to Interlaken
Arrive into Zurich and travel by train to the mountain resort of Interlaken. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of your day exploring this charming town.
Day 2 Harder Kulm
After breakfast, lace up your hiking boots and ready your camera for an exciting journey to Harder Kulm! Your included Harder Kulm Funicular ticket will transport you 1,322 metres above sea level to the top of this iconic viewpoint, where you can enjoy far reaching views of Interlaken and the emerald lakes below. Embark on one of the hiking trails or perhaps enjoy a leisurely lunch in the restaurant, serving traditional Swiss fare alongside panoramic mountain views.
Day 3 Jungfraujoch
More stunning views await you today as you head above the clouds to Europe’s highest altitude railway station at Jungfraujoch. Sitting 3,454 metres above sea level, this unforgettable train journey takes you to the ‘Top of Europe’ where you’ll marvel at the breathtaking mountain scenery and the spectacular sight of Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps.Later, perhaps enjoy a stroll through picturesque Höhematte Park, offering unrivalled views of the Jungfrau massif.
Day 4 Brienzer Rothorn
Today, journey into the mountains to the snow-capped summit of the imposing Brienzer Rothorn. Climb on board the Brienz Rothorn Railway and be transported througha beautiful Alpine landscape, before taking in amazing views atop the mountain. Back at sea level, enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Brienz before returning to Interlaken.
Day 5 Lake Brienz
Take to the water again today as you enjoy a guided kayaking tour on Lake Brienz. Paddling on these calm waters is a unique way to explore this stunning lake and its surroundings. Admire the spectacular vistas of soaring peaks and verdant forests, look out for the picturesque Ringgenberg Castle peeking out from the dense foliage, and delve into the unique history and culture of the area with help from your guide.
Day 6 Thun
This morning, why not take a short train journey to historic Thun? Wander the lanes of its attractive, riverfront Old Town lined with traditional townhouses and admire the charming 15th Century architecture of Rathausplatz, the town’s historic centre. Perched on a hilltop at the heart of Thun, discover the city’s 12th Century castle. This striking, fairytale caste of white brick towers and pointed turrets is now home to a museum and boasts breathtaking views over the city, Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains.
Day 7 Grindelwald
On your final full day, perhaps board a train to visit the famous mountain resort of Grindelwald. This idyllic village is set under the intimidating north face of Eiger, complete with charming, wooden chalets and lush, alpine pastures. Why not take advantage of the plethora of walking opportunities surrounding Grindelwald. Alternatively, catch the gondola to the summit of nearby Schwarzhorn, where glorious vistas of snowy peaks, glistening waterfalls and shimmering lakes await you. If you’re feeling daring, you could even venture out onto the Cliff Walk.
Day 8 Interlaken to Zurich
Take a stroll through the wonderful scenery and fresh Alpine air this morning before returning to Zurich by train for your onward flight.
