Starting at the foot of the highest mountain range in Romania, travel through fortified towns and hilltop citadels, past dense forests and across open fields. With a final day to explore the fascinating capital city of Bucharest, this trip will allow you to discover both the modern and traditional sides of Romania, all from the seat of your bike.

Itinerary
Day 1 Bucharest
Arrive in Bucharest and be met by your tour leader. Transfer to the small town of Vulcan in Brasov County, Transylvania.
Day 2 Bucharest to Bucium
After breakfast you’ll set up the bikes and start your ride with an amazing view of the snow covered peaks of the Fagaras Mountains, as you pass through the town of Zarnesti. Stop for lunch at the oldest flour mill in Romania, powered by the river that runs past it, and hear the amazing story of how it has survived through the communism period before continuing to the town of Bucium.
Day 3 Bucium to Carta
Start today’s ride by heading to the small village of Lisa where a 100 year old machine tailoring woollen blanket is still operational. Take a tour around the wool mill and see a demonstration of how woollen blankets and clothes are made. Later cycle to the village of Cartisoara and visit the Cistercian Monastery.
Day 4 Carta to Biertan
Cross the river Olt and continue along quiet country roads, cycling through pastoral landscapes as you make your way towards Biertan. On arrival spend a free afternoon exploring the village, maybe visit the fortified church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
Day 5 Biertan to Sighisoara
Cycle through the countryside and remote villages of Transylvania. Stop for lunch by the river Tarnava Mare before continuing your ride to Sighisoara, one of the few medieval citadels in Europe. You will have the whole afternoon to discover the old town with its famous clock tower, medieval streets and the house where Vlad Dracul, the father of Vlad the Impaler was born.
Day 6 Sighisoara to Soars
Your trail today follows a lovely quiet country road through the Transylvanian hills to Apold Village. Spend some time exploring this fascinating old town before you continue your ride to the small town of Soars where you will stay the night.
Day 7 Soars to Viscri
Leave Soars behind and start with a short climb through the forest and several small towns before arriving in Viscri. You will be staying in the centre of the town where there will be plenty of time to fully explore Viscri.
Day 8 Viscri to Bucharest
After breakfast take a private transfer to Bran Castle, situated on the border of Transylvania and Wallachia. Take a tour around this spectacular building which is also known as ‘Dracula Castle’. After the tour continue your journey to Bucharest. The afternoon is free to explore Bucharest and also enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers.
Day 9 Bucharest
After breakfast the rest of the day is free for further exploration of Bucharest, or do some last minute shopping before your trip comes to an end.
