Itinerary
Day 1 Lisbon
Arrive into Lisbon and transfer to your hotel for check in.
Day 2 Lisbon
Enjoy a full day exploring the delights of this bustling capital. Start with a stroll through the city centre, taking in the pretty tiled houses and intricate, artistically laid cobbles. Later you’ll join a Lisbon walking tour for an introduction to the city’s quirky neighbourhoods of Chiado, Bairro Alto and Bica before crossing the river to sample fresh seafood in Cacilhas.
Day 3 Lisbon to Sintra
Make your way to the airport to collect your car and drive to regal Sintra. En route perhaps visit Capo de Roca – the most western point in Europe and home to some beautiful, rugged scenery.
Day 4 Sintra to Coimbra
After breakfast jump on the local bus to the most famous sight in Sintra, the abstract Pena Palace. This colourful monument is surrounded by tropical gardens and extensive forests. Go on to explore the Moorish Castle, climb the towering battlements and enjoy the far reaching views. This afternoon drive north to the riverside city of Coimbra, famed for its spectacular medieval architecture.
Day 5 Coimbra
Built on the grounds of the first king of Portugal’s palace, Coimbra was intrinsic in shaping modern Portugal. Take a walk through the well preserved medieval old town and its famous UNESCO World Heritage listed university which over time has given the city its nickname, ‘The City of Students’.
Day 6 Coimbra to Évora
Today travel to Évora, home to a plethora of ancient Roman ruins. On arrival visit the eerie Capela dos Ossos, a chapel with its interior entirely covered in human skulls and bones. Wander on through the rest of the city centre, stopping off at the Roman Temple of Diana and Aqueduct of Silver Water. Finish the day relaxing with a drink in the Praça do Giraldo main square.
Day 7 Évora
Head back to the airport for your onward flight.
