Itinerary
Day 1 Krakow
Arrive into Krakow and transfer to your hotel. Join your travel director for a walking tour of the city to see the famous Sukiennice Cloth Hall, St Mary's Church and Europe's largest town square, Rynek Glowny. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner.
Day 2 Krakow
After a leisurely morning, join a local expert for a tour of the Renaissance Castle. Visit the Cathedral to see the ormer seat of Pope John Paul II, before touring the former Jewish Quarter to see Ghetto Square. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps attend a Polka Party this evening.
Day 3 Krakow to Zakopane
Travel into the Tatras, the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains to the resort town of Zakopane. Enjoy some time at leisure to do a spot of shopping or perhaps climb one of the walking trails for panoramic views across Slovakia. This evening, enjoy a Highlight Dinner with a local ‘Goral’ Highlander folklore entertainer.
Day 4 Zakopane to Wroclaw
As you travel past the homeland of Pope John Paul II, stop en route at Auschwitz. Join a local historian for a moving tour of the memorial and museum, before continuing your journey along the banks of the River Oder to the city of Wroclaw, affectionately known as the ‘Venice of Poland’.
Day 5 Wroclaw to Poznan
Journey through the region of Weilkopolska, considered the birthplace of Poland, to Poznan. Meet a local resident for a walking tour of the Old Town before travelling to Cathedral Island. Learn the secrets of the St Martin's croissant, a local delicacy of Poznan and enjoy a tasting before returning to Poznan.
Day 6 Poznan to Gdansk
As you journey north, stop at Gniezno to visit the cathedral and admire the famous winged bronze doors before continuing to Torun. Join a local guide for a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site which is a living museum of medieval architecture. After the tour, head to Gdansk, birthplace of the Solidarity movement.
Day 7 Gdansk
This morning, visit Westerplatte for a guided tour with a local expert and learn the history behind the battle between the Polish and German troops in 1939. Visit the Gdansk Shipyards and tour the medieval city, before enjoying a free afternoon.
Day 8 Gdansk to Warsaw
Visit the stunning medieval fortress ‘Castle of the Teutonic Order’ on the banks of the Nogat River. Later, travel south across the beautiful Masuria Lake District to Warsaw, Poland’s modern capital city.
Day 9 Warsaw
Tour the Palace of Culture and the Chopin Monument in Lazienki Park with a local expert this morning, before visiting the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes followed by a walking tour of Warsaw’s Old Town. Later, visit the University Botanic Gardens with a biologist to understand the garden’s main function. This evening, enjoy a final dinner with your fellow travellers at a local Warsaw restaurant and try Polish delicacies.
Day 10 Warsaw
Your tour ends this morning with a transfer to the airport for your flight home.
