Itinerary
Day 1 Oslo
Arrive into Oslo and make your way to your hotel in the centre of town. A city filled with arts and culture, there is a huge selection of open air galleries and picturesque parks to explore.
Days 2-3 Oslo
Spend two days getting to know Oslo and the surrounding area. Head for Vigeland Park to wander through the unique sculptures and enjoy a picnic in the sun surrounded by the striking artwork, or maybe pay a visit to the city museum.
Take a walk around the harbour and climb the sloping roof of the opera house for stunning views over the Oslofjord. Just five minutes from the city centre by local ferry, visitors can reach the forests and beachs of Hovedoya and Gressholmen islands. Perhaps spend a day basking in the sun and swimming in the waters or walk along lush pathways, immersed in nature’s slow pace of life. In the evening return to Oslo for delicious al fresco dining and rooftop cocktails.
Day 4 Oslo to Longyearbyen
Today you’ll take a flight north to the town of Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen, Svalbard. The town was originally built to support the Norwegian coal mining industry and is now the base for visitors looking to explore the region’s polar landscape. Now the main industry is tourism and the international town offers a wide choice of high quality restaurants, shops and exhilarating day tours with a festive friendly feel.
Days 5 - 6 Longyearbyen
Time for two days of action-packed arctic activities under the midnight sun. You’ll enjoy a full day trip aboard a hybrid-electric catamaran to Billefjorden and the incredible glacier front of Nordenskiöldbreen. From a distance, see the ghost town of Pyramiden. Once home to over 1000 people in the 1980s, the settlement was abruptly abandoned when the coal mine was closed. Take an educational tour of the town where you will see Adventdalen and Mine 7 before visiting the site of the Global Seed Vault. Spend an evening around the fire learning about the ‘King of the Arctic’, the regal polar bear on an evening excursion to the wilderness cabin at Camp Berentz.
Day 7 Longyearbyen
It’s time to say goodbye to the Arctic and make your way home. Maybe pay a final visit to the shops and boutiques to pick up some souvenirs before you’re taken to the airport for your onward flight.
