Pompeii and Bay of Naples Geography School Trip

Day 1 Arrive in Naples                
Upon arrival meet your local Tour Leader and transfer to the picturesque resort town of Sorrento.                  

Day 2 Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius                
This morning explore the ruins of ancient Pompeii on a guided tour. Take an unparalleled look back into the lives of ancient Romans and discover how they lived, worked and interacted 2,000 years ago. In the afternoon travel up the mighty Mount Vesuvius, where you’ll meet a local volcanology guide. Ascend to the summit for staggering 360 degree views over the Bay of Naples and into the steaming crater.                

Day 3 Capri        
Take the hydrofoil over to the idyllic island of Capri to spend a day exploring. This island offers a deeper understanding of coastal erosion and geomorphology, making it ideal for a geography trip. See ‘Tuono’, where sharp rocks drop into the sea and admire the lighthouse of Punta Carena and the cliffs that appear from above.        

Day 4 Herculaneum/Return to the UK              
Before departing, visit the less famous site of Herculaneum. The ancient municipality was buried deeper than its neighbouring towns, leaving behind some of the best-preserved ruins in Naples. After the tour, transfer to the airport.
