Itinerary
Day 1 Rome
Arrive into the Imperial City and transfer to your hotel before joining you travel director and fellow travellers for a welcome reception. This evening, embark on an orientation drive of Rome's glittering sights.
Day 2 Rome
Head to the Vatican City with a local specialist to admire the masterpieces collected by popes throughout the centuries and gain priority early admission to the Sistine Chapel to see the magnificent frescoed ceiling. See St Peter's Basilica before venturing into ancient Rome to see the Colosseum and Circus Maximus.
Day 3 Rome to Venice
Venture through the valley of the Tiber north into the green and golden landscapes of Umbria. Pass the hilltop towns of Orte and Orvieto, travelling through Tuscany's terraced olive groves to the 'Queen of the Adriatic', Venice.
Day 4 Venice to Verona
Cruise by private launch to the city's most prominent sights, the Bridge of Sighs, St Mark's Square, St Mark's Basilica and the ornate Doge's Palace. Witness the intricate craft of glassblowing and soak up the pageantry of Venice before continuing to Verona, home of Shakespeare's ill-fated lovers.
Day 5 Verona to Florence
The UNESCO World Heritage listed Square of Miracles to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa is the first stop en route to Florence. Explore the birthplace of Renaissance and home to the Medici dynasty and enjoy dinner at a castle on a celebrated wine and olive oil estate this evening.
Day 6 Florence to Rome
Join a local specialist to delve into the rich medieval and Renaissance history of Florence. Admire the impressive sculptures of Piazza della Signoria, wander the narrow streets and encounter the multi-coloured marble Duomo and famous Baptistery. Later, see a spectacular feat of engineering at the Ponte Vecchio before continuing through Umbria back to Rome for a farewell dinner.
Day 7 Rome
Your tour comes to an end after breakfast.
