Itinerary
Day 1 Lake Como
Arrive into Milan and travel to stunning Lake Como. Later, meet your fellow travellers and travel director for a welcome reception.
Day 2 Milan
Embark on a city tour of Milan with a local specialist, famously the fashion capital of Italy. Explore architectural sites including the Gothic Duomo, the neo-classical La Scala and the ornate Galleria with its impressive glassdomed roof. Later, perhaps explore Lake Como and Bellagio on an optional excursion.
Day 3 Lake Como to Venice
Travel to Venice via Verona, famed as the setting of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Upon arrival, perhaps join a scenic cruise along Venice’s Grand Canal.
Day 4 Venice
Visit Giudecca Island and witness the centuries-old tradition of glass making. After, visit the famous St Mark’s Square and the mysterious Bridge of Sighs, before spending the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 5 Venice to Florence
Today, travel across the Apennine Mountains to Florence, the Cradle of Renaissance. Perhaps join your fellow travellers for a traditional dinner in the Chianti Hills this evening.
Day 6 Florence
Explore Florence with a local specialist, visiting the Piazza del Duomo to view the iconic Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazza della Signoria, home to the 14th Century Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Take in spectacular views from Piazzale Michelangelo before witnessing demonstrations in leathercraft and goldsmithery. This evening, enjoy dinner overlooking Tuscan vineyards and olive groves.
Days 7-8 Florence to Amalfi Coast
Journey south through the Arno Valley to Maiori on the Amalfi Coast. On the morning of day eight, travel to Amalfi, perched perfectly on this dramatic stretch of coastline. Visit the 11th Century Sant’Andrea Cathedral and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Perhaps join an optional excursion to Positano.
Days 9-10 Amalfi Coast to Rome
After a day at leisure, join a small group walking tour to discover the fascinating ancient city of Pompeii on day 10. Continue north via Cassino to view the 6th Century Benedictine Abbey, finally arriving into the historic capital of Rome.
Day 11 Rome
Spend the morning in the Vatican City with a local specialist, then cross the Tiber into ancient Rome to marvel at the site of Circus Maximus and the iconic Colosseum. The afternoon is yours to explore this captivating city.
Day 12 Rome
Enjoy a full day at leisure to indulge in Rome’s tasty food, ancient history and art collections, before attending a farewell dinner amongst new friends.
Day 13 Rome
After breakfast, your Italian journey comes to an end.
