Itinerary
Day 1 Naples to Palinuro
Arrive in Naples and transfer to your hotel at Palinuro on the south coast of Cilento National Park.
Day 2 Palinuro
Begin cycling today with a morning ride along the south coast of Cilento National Park. This unspoilt stretch of coastline offers spectacular views of the Gulf of Policastro. Enjoy a short break at Marina di Camerota, before climbing inland to the amazing village of San Giovanni a Piro. Continue to the Mingardo Canyon before cycling back to Palinuro where you’ll spend the night.
Day 3 Palinuro to Casalvelino
Follow the beautiful coastline to Cape Palinuro and the medieval village of Pisciotta. Take the gentle climb to Ascea, before cycling past the ancient Greek settlement of Velia with its 4th Century BC Pink Gate. Head to the plain of Casalvelino where you’ll stay in a traditional agriturismo.
Day 4 Casavelino to Agropoli
Cycle though small, picturesque villages this morning on your way to Acciaroli, a favourite of Ernest Hemingway. Stop for lunch at Castellabate where you may have the opportunity to swim in the sea. Continue on the final section to Agropoli, a small town commanding lovely sea views.
Day 5 Agropoli to Minori
Begin the day with a visit to Paestrum’s well preserved 6th Century BC Greek temples and amphitheatre. Take the train to Salerno and jump back on your bike to ride a section of the coastal road to Minori, your base for next three nights. Stop en route at Cetara, a lovely fishing village and enjoy a scenic downhill section past dramatic cliffs and scented lemon terraces on the approach to Minori.
Day 6 Amalfi & Positano
Ride along the scenic road to the town of Amalfi where there’s time for a short stroll. Continue along the dramatic coastline with visits to Furore, Praiano and Positano. The cycle route offers wonderful views of the peninsula, including the island of Capri. Later, climb to the Colli di San Pietro for more spectacular views, before cycling back to Minori in time for sunset.
Day 7 Minori
Today is a full day at leisure to further explore the area at your own pace. Rest your legs with a day off the bike relaxing on the beach at Minori or perhaps visit Ravello, a lovely resort town perched above the Amalfi Coast with a magnificent 11th Century Duomo. Alternatively, take a boat trip to the famous island of Capri or visit the archaeological wonder of nearby Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.
Day 8 Minori
The trip finishes in Minori after breakfast.
