Day 1 Lille
On arrival make your way to your hotel for check in before heading to the main square ‘Place du General de Gaulle’ and admire the grand 17th Century town houses that surround it.
Day 2 Art and Architecture
Lille is a city boasting both French and Flemish heritage and a wide mix of architecture. Start your day beside the towering 1653 Stock Exchange before wandering the quaint cobbled streets of Vieux-Lille, the city’s Flemish Old Town. This afternoon why not visit one of the city’s art galleries such as the Palais des Beaux-Arts Museum, France’s second largest art gallery after the Louvre. Here you’ll find masterpieces by artists such as Goya, Rembrandt and Rubens.
Day 3 Parks & Markets
Enjoy a morning exploring one of the cities exceptional markets. Maybe get lost surrounded by flowers, fabrics and fruits in the bazaar-like stalls of the Wazemmes Market, the city’s largest; or perhaps pick up some local produce at the pretty Marche du Concert. Later pay a visit one of the city’s splendid parks. With 11 hectares of botanical gardens, Jardin des Plantes et Serre Equatoriale is a wonderful, peaceful space for a stroll or perhaps seek out monsters at fascinating Garden of the Giants.
