Itinerary
Day 1 Calgary
Sandwiched between the Rocky Mountains and the winding Bow River, Calgary is at the epicentre of Alberta with high-rise buildings and urban parklands creating a balanced, modern city. This evening, enjoy a welcome meeting with your tour guide and fellow travellers.
Day 2 Calgary to Jasper
Head north-west to Jasper, along the spectacular Icefields Parkway. Cutting through the heart of the Rockies, it is recognised as one of the top scenic drives in the world, passing hanging glaciers, sheer rock walls and broad sweeping valleys. Jasper National Park is the largest national park in Canada and offers a true wilderness feel.
Days 3-4 Jasper
Enjoy two full days in Jasper, perhaps take the SkyTram cable car to Whistler’s Peak for a bird’s-eye view or explore the ample opportunities for hiking or mountain biking amid this glorious lakeside scenery.
Day 5 Jasper to Golden
Today, experience the Icefields Parkway in all its glory. Take the chance to marvel at views you won’t have seen when travelling from south to north, and there’s also the opportunity to traverse a portion of the imposing Athabasca Glacier on an optional guided glacier hike. Be amazed by the turquoise waters of Peyto Lake before ending the day in Golden, close to Yoho National Park.
Day 6 Yoho National Park
Yoho National Park is considered a hidden treasure. It’s a photographer’s dream with several hiking opportunities that showcase the mountains, lakes and waterfalls of this pristine alpine landscape. Perhaps opt for an exhilarating half-day white-water rafting excursion along the Kicking Horse River or choose to hike around the magnificent Emerald Lake. Next, visit the impressive Takakkaw Falls, where you can choose an easy trail to the base of the falls or a more challenging trail to see their beauty from above.
Day 7 Golden to Banff
Cameras at the ready as you head to two of the Rockies’ most photographed locations today. With its snow-capped peaks, ancient pine forests and aquamarine waters, Lake Louise is known as the Gem of the Canadian Rockies, while iconic Moraine Lake lies in the Valley of the Ten Peaks and is arguably the most picturesque lake in the region. Your next three nights will be spent in the picturesque resort town of Banff.
Days 8-9 Banff
In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada. Its mountainous terrain encompasses coniferous forests, alpine meadows, icefields and glaciers. Take a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain or opt to view all this scenic grandeur from a helicopter. There’s nothing better after a hard day’s hiking than a soak in the Sulphur Mountain Hot Springs.
Day 10 Banff
Your adventure comes to an end in Banff this morning.
