Itinerary
Start by exploring Toronto, a vibrant city famed for its amazing shopping and Insta-worthy skyline. Take a daytrip to mighty Niagara to see the largest waterfall in North America – depending on the time of year either cruising beneath the falls or journeying behind them. Once you’ve dried off from the thundering spray, hop on your first Via Rail train along the banks of Lake Ontario and arrive in Ottawa, Canada’s compact capital. This city is best seen on foot, so grab a coffee and walk alongside the pretty Rideau Canal then soak up the views from Parliament Hill.
Back on the train, dust off your French phrasebook for your next stops. “Une biere s’il vous plait!” First up is Quebec City, known for its quaint European ambience. Wander through the old town’s cobbled streets lined with French cafes and local brasseries, or head to the surrounding countryside where winter snow melts away to reveal amazing hiking trails along the riverbank – or try white water rafting! Ride the rails to your final destination, striking Montreal. Explore the summit and surroundings of Mount Royal – the mountain centrepiece that gave the city its name – get your skates at the underground city’s huge ice rink, or check out one of the frequent streets fairs showcasing incredible food and live music.
