Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival
Arrive into Ottawa and transfer to your hotel, your base from which to explore Canada’s capital city.
Day 2 Downtown highlights
Discover the city on foot this morning as you enjoy a private walking tour, led by a knowledgeable guide. Learn about the city’s colourful history and graceful architecture while visiting the famous landmarks of Parliament Hill and the National War Memorial. Enjoy a river cruise on the Ottawa River this afternoon and see many of the city’s iconic sights from a different perspective. Later, delve into Ottawa’s thriving culinary scene and sample some local and seasonal delights.
Day 3 ByWard Market & Rideau Canal
One of Canada’s oldest and largest farmers’ markets is located in Ottawa; the ByWard Market is perfect to pick up a delicious treat and browse the local artisan stalls. In the warmer months, why not hire a bike to explore one of the many designated cycle-ways, admiring the scenery as you go. Ride alongside the Rideau Canal, the historic waterway flowing through the heart of the city, which in winter becomes an impressive sight as the world’s largest naturally frozen skating rink. In the winter, the city becomes a magical dreamland with ice sculptures, ice skating on the canal and plenty of winter festivals! In the evening, catch the Northern Lights multimedia show at Parliament Hill, a spectacular sight not to be missed!
Day 4 Gatineau Park
Leave the city behind today and travel to Gatineau Park, a conservation and outdoor recreation area packed with activities and biodiversity, just 20 minutes north of the city. In winter, try your hand at cross-country skiing or snowshoeing; in summer hike the King Mountain trail and be rewarded with impressive views of Ottawa and the surrounding areas. Spend the afternoon relaxing at one of the lakeside beaches before returning to the city for a well-earned beer at the CRAFT Beer Market in Lansdowne, a must for any beer lover!
Day 5 Canadian Museum of History & Departure
For your final morning, learn about Canada’s rich cultural heritage as you pay a visit to the Canadian Museum of History. If you have the time, visit a second iconic museum to discover the country’s military history, the Canadian War Museum. Later, take a transfer back to the airport for your evening flight home.
