Itinerary
Day 1 Whitehorse
Arrive in Whitehorse in Canada’s magnificent north! Air North operate flights from a number of Canadian cities, including Vancouver and Calgary, making the Yukon wilderness easy to combine with your wider Canadian adventure.
Day 2 Whitehorse
This morning head out on a guided canoe trip on the Yukon River. Later, why not visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. Home to bison, caribou, elk, bighorn sheep and mountain goats, it’s an excellent opportunity to view some otherwise elusive native animals. Later, be sure to visit Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs for a relaxing soak in the naturally warm waters.
Day 3 White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad
An exciting full day awaits. After pick-up in downtown Whitehorse, travel along the South Klondike Highway to Fraser, BC. Here, you’ll board the world-famous narrow gauge White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad, travelling through spectacular scenery over the White Pass Summit and into Skagway, Alaska. Explore Skagway’s historic downtown, the gateway for many prospectors on their way to the gold fields. Travel back to Whitehorse by coach.
Day 4 Whitehorse to Dawson City
This morning, fly to the Gold Rush town of Dawson City that still retains its frontier legacy. Why not visit Goldbottom Mine to see how today’s gold prospecting techniques have changed since the 1800s.
Day 5 Tombstone Territorial Park
Today, head out of the city along the Dempster Highway as you enter Tombstone Territorial Park, boasting over 810 sq miles of superbly epic scenery. Keep your eyes peeled for bears and caribou and take advantage of the excellent hiking trails on a guided one hour flat-terrain hike along part of the Klondike River. Visit the Interpretation Centre and enjoy a hearty lunch before heading back to Dawson City in the afternoon.
Day 6 Dawson City to Whitehorse
Enjoy one final morning in Dawson City before flying back to Whitehorse.
Day 7 Whitehorse
Your adventure concludes, so transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
Additional Options: If travelling from mid August, why not extend your stay in Yukon for spectacular autumn colours and Northern Lights viewing either in Whitehorse or from Southern Lakes Resort.
Departs: Daily, early Jun - early Sep
