Blue River Wildlife Viewing River Safari

This is a great trip if you’re driving between Sun Peaks and Jasper, as it can only be done on a self-drive.

You board a 'shotover' style jetboat and go through the middle of the inland rainforest looking for wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot some bears on the edge of the forest which was fantastic. Even if we hadn't spotted bears, we would have all loved it. My kids loved the speed and experience as the driver really throws the boat about going upstream. They then turn round and float back with the current – the engines are stopped which really makes you feel you are in the middle of nowhere

They have a nice floating cafe and allow guests to bring their own lunch. They also call in at a waterfall and do a short 200m hike to see this.

Top tip: You’re unable to book a specific time for this tour - you just turn up and they get you on the next boat with space. We arrived at 12:00 and had to wait a couple of hours to get on, but found a lake nearby to relax and have some lunch.
