Itinerary
Days 1-2 Hobart
Explore Tasmania’s vibrant capital, rich in history with a wealth of restaurants, cafés and galleries.
Day 3 Hobart to Strahan
Pick up your car in Hobart and enjoy the beautiful drive west across the island through Tasmania’s UNESCO World Heritage wilderness. Stop en route to Strahan at historic Queenstown, once the world’s richest mining town. Arrive in Strahan late afternoon, a quaint riverside town where the Gordon and Franklin Rivers twist their way through the verdant landscape.
Day 4 Strahan
Enjoy a morning cruise along the peaceful Gordon River into the heart of the Tasmanian wilderness and a guided walk through beautiful rainforest, a must-do experience.
Day 5 Strahan to Cradle Mountain
Marvel at the remarkable scenery as the road cuts through the rainforest gorge of the King River before arriving at Cradle Mountain.
Day 6 Cradle Mountain
The craggy profile of Cradle Mountain looms over Lake St Clair National Park, home to many superb long and short walks to glacial lakes through ancient rainforest. This evening, enjoy an exclusive visit to the local wildlife sanctuary, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to get up close to Tasmanian devils and rare quolls, whilst enjoying drinks and sweet treats.
Day 7 Cradle Mountain to Launceston
On arrival in Launceston experience the natural wonder of Cataract Gorge, just a 15 minute walk from the city.
Day 8 Launceston to Freycinet NP
Today, drive to the spectacular east coast, home to the rugged and beautiful Freycinet National Park.
Day 9 Freycinet NP
Enjoy a fantastic cruise around the scenic bays to discover this beautiful place from the water. Walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout for one of Tasmania’s most stunning views over a perfect arc of pure white sands and crystal clear waters.
Days 10-11 Freycinet NP to Port Arthur
Following the Tasman and then Arthur Highway, continue to Port Arthur, the most well preserved convict site in Australia. Wander amongst the ruins and the outstanding immersive gallery to learn the sombre history of those who lived here.
Day 12 Port Arthur to Hobart
Drive the short distance to Hobart as your journey comes to an end.
