Itinerary
Days 1-3 Melbourne
Explore this cosmopolitan city at leisure with its Victorian facades and laneways, then head up to Melbourne Skydeck for breathtaking views from above.
Day 4 Melbourne to Aireys Inlet
Pick up your car this morning and head west towards the iconic Great Ocean Road scenic drive.
Day 5 Aireys Inlet to Apollo Bay
This morning, continue your route exploring the many coastal villages before reaching the seaside town of Apollo Bay.
Days 6-7 Apollo Bay to Port Campbell
The natural coastal beauty becomes evident as you approach Port Campbell. Spend time at one of many boardwalks and head to Gibson Steps, the only beach access near the Twelve Apostles.
Day 8 Port Campbell to Port Fairy
As you leave the Great Ocean Road behind, you arrive at the quaint village of Port Fairy, famous for its 19th Century cottage.
Day 9 Port Fairy to Grampians NP
Today, discover the variety of wildlife and flora, unique rock formations and bush trails of the Grampians National Park.
Days 10-11 Grampians NP to Phillip Island
Head east to rugged Phillip Island. As dusk approaches, watch the world-famous penguin parade on Summerland Beach.
Day 12 Phillip Island to Lakes Entrance
Situated where the Southern Ocean meets the Gippsland Lakes and fringed by the spectacular Ninety Mile Beach, Lakes Entrance makes for a relaxing stop.
Days 13-14 Lakes Entrance to Tilba
Take the quiet coastal route, with plenty of opportunities to stop and watch kangaroos playing on the rugged beaches. Once in Tilba, enjoy a whole host of artisanal workshops and fresh farm produce.
Days 15-16 Tilba to Jervis Bay
On the drive north if you have time, take a cruise out to Montague Island Reserve to view the resident seal and eagle population. Along with Jervis Bay’s beautiful coastline and opportunities for whale spotting, this area is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts.
Days 17-19 Jervis Bay to Sydney
Swap coastal life for city sights for a while as you enter one of Australia’s most iconic locations. Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge and watch surfers at Bondi Beach.
Day 20 Sydney to Port Stephens
Leave the city behind for the fresh ocean breeze and try your luck with some dolphin spotting in laidback Port Stephens.
Days 21-22 Port Stephens to Bellingen
Swap the coast for the artsy town of ‘Bello’ where you can browse art galleries and boutiques before driving out to Coffs Harbour, an eco-tourism hotspot with stunning beaches.
Days 23-24 Bellingen to Byron Bay
Reach your ultimate beach destination in quirky and creative Byron Bay. Fit in a surf lesson on the famous waves then treat yourself to some fresh seafood.
Days 25-26 Byron Bay to Brisbane
Finish your trip with a drive up through the Gold Coast, before dropping off your car for a walk along Brisbane’s South Bank to choose from the city’s best eateries and celebrate your incredible journey.
Day 27 Brisbane
Head to Brisbane airport for your onward journey.
