Itinerary
Day 1 Darwin to Kakadu NP
Depart Darwin early and head east to Kakadu National Park, a mysterious landscape of rocky escarpments and verdant floodplains. Visit Warradjan Cultural Centre which depicts Aboriginal life in this area, before taking a river cruise to spot saltwater crocodiles. Afterwards, head to Nourlangie Rock to see the ancient rock art.
Day 2 Arnhem Land
This morning, travel by 4WD to Arnhem Land and Mikinj Valley. Sandstone outcrops, forests and billabongs characterise this beautiful landscape. Learn about the hunting, food gathering and bush skills that are needed for survival in this unforgiving wilderness.
Day 3 Kakadu NP to Darwin
Rise early to explore Ubirr, home to ancient rock art, believed to be 40,000 years old, before admiring the sweeping view across the surrounding wetlands. Cruise the East Alligator River with an Aboriginal guide who will provide an insight to bush survival skills. Go ashore at Arnhem Land and stop in at the Bowali Visitor Centre before travelling back to Darwin to arrive early evening.
