Itinerary
Day 1 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Victoria Falls.
Day 2 Victoria Falls to Hwange NP
Explore the impressive falls at leisure this morning before continuing to the headquarters of Painted Dog Conservation. Learn about the rehabilitation efforts to protect these endangered African wild dogs. Later, head out on safari in Hwange National Park, home to nearly half of Zimbabwe’s elephant population.
Day 3 Hwange NP
Today is spent tracking the native wildlife on safari in Hwange National Park and Dete Vlei. Spot herds of elephants and buffaloes, look out for giraffes and zebras, and keep your eyes peeled for lions and the rare African wild dogs.
Day 4 Hwange NP to Chobe NP, Botswana
Head north, crossing the border into Botswana, to the stunning Chobe National Park. Set out on a boat safari on the Chobe River and keep an eye out for leering crocodiles, bathing elephants, hidden hippos, and an abundance of spectacular birdlife.
Day 5 Chobe NP
Today, continue exploring Chobe National Park. Try to spot the rare semi-aquatic antelopes and observe zebras and lions. Admire African fish eagles, Squacco herons, and the African spoonbills.
Day 6 Chobe NP to Okavango Delta
Soak up the views on a scenic flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy gliding along the waterways in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, and catch sight of the area’s copious wildlife. This afternoon, watch for aquatic birds, elephants, and hippos on a wildlife cruise.
Day 7 Okavango Delta
This morning, navigate the narrow channels of the delta in a mokoro, heading for Chief’s Island which is part of the Moremi Game Reserve. Enjoy a guided bush walk and identify tracks in search of hippos, lions, zebras, and kudus. Learn about the medicinal uses of native plants and trees. This afternoon, set out on another boating activity or wildlife drive.
Day 8 Okavango Delta
Embark on both morning and late afternoon wildlife excursions, perhaps choosing to take a refreshing swim and relax during downtime.
Day 9 Okavango Delta to Maun
Following an early morning wildlife excursion, fly to the frontier town of Maun. Meet an expedition member involved with National Geographic’s Wilderness Project, which aims to protect the biodiversity of the Okavango. Learn about the delta conservation projects by watching the National Geographic documentary ‘Into the Okavango’.
Day 10 Maun
Your tour comes to an end in Maun, you can depart at any time.
