Itinerary

Day 1  Durban to Isandlwana
Pick up your car at Durban airport and head north to the legendary battle site at Isandlwana. Boasting an incredible setting with spectacular rolling hills, make sure you enjoy some of the nature activities on offer including game walks, horse riding, hiking and mountain biking. Additionally, take time to indulge in some delicious cuisine or simply relax and enjoy the stunning views.

Days 2-3  Isandlwana
The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 is infamous for the great battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift and form an integral part of the nation’s history. As you join a gripping guided tour of the battlefields, listen in wonder as amazing storytellers bring to life the battles and terrible personal tragedies which ensued.

Days 4-5  Isandlwana to Nambiti Private Game Reserve
This morning, you’ll have time to explore over 60 battle sites and museums en route to the wonderfully scenic 5★ Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Savour Big 5 game drives as well as time to enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or sundowners around the camp fire, under the stars.

Days 6-7  Nambiti Private Game Reserve to Spioenkop Game Reserve
After a final morning game activity, continue on to your next picturesque lodge in Spioenkop. A range of activities are available, from nature trails to rhino tracking, horse riding to hot air ballooning or exploring the nearby Drakensberg Mountains.

Day 8  Spioenkop Game Reserve
The three year Anglo-Boer conflict was the longest war Britain had fought since the Napoleonic Wars. Today, join a guided half day tour to relive the war’s most costly single day where on 23 January 1900, the British attempted to recapture Spioenkop.

Day 9  Spioenkop Game Reserve to Johannesburg
After a leisurely breakfast, head to Johannesburg to catch your onward flight or continue your African adventure.

Additional Options: This holiday is also available as a Chauffeured Fly Drive, meaning you can enjoy this itinerary without actually having to drive yourself.

Optional Excursions: Why not combine this holiday with the spectacular Victoria Falls? Spend a couple of days in Johannesburg and learn about South Africa’s moving history, before boarding the famous Rovos Rail from Pretoria to journey up to the mighty Victoria Falls.
