Itinerary

Day 1  Cape Town, South Africa
Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, meet your tour leader and fellow travellers at a welcome meeting.

Day 2  Cape Town to Cederberg
Climb aboard your Lando and head out of the city, viewing dramatic Western Cape scenery along the way. Stop by the coast for some lunch before continuing onto Cederberg where you will be spending the night in a camp on a farm.

Day 3  Cederberg to Orange River
Travel past large plantations of rooibos tea. Take an optional canoe trip on the scenic Orange River.

Day 4  Orange River to Fish River Canyon, Namibia
Leave South Africa behind as you cross the border into Namibia and head to the Fish River Canyon - the largest canyon in Africa and arguably the second largest in the world.  Be sure to watch the spectacular sunset over the canyon’s rim in the early evening.

Day 5  Fish River Canyon to Namib Desert
Continue north via long, bumpy roads passing the small and desolate towns of Bethanien and Helmeringhausen en route to the Namib Desert. Arrive in the late afternoon and explore the natural wonders of this bizarre desert environment.

Day 6  Namib Desert
Head out to explore the Sesriem Canyon, a small canyon typical of the area. Later opt to continue on to the breathtaking Sossusvlei Dunes, and climb the spectacular Dune 45.

Days 7-8  Namib Desert to Swakopmund
Get a real feel for the Namib Desert as you cross this empty region to the historical town of Swakopmund and spend the next two nights exploring at your leisure. Choose from any of the optional activities on offer including sky diving, dune boarding and a scenic coastal flight.

Day 9  Swakopmund to Spitzkoppe
Jump back into your Lando and travel north to the granite peaks of Spitzkoppe. The rest of the day is free for you to do as you wish, but be sure to check out the night sky as it's great for star-gazing!

Day 10  Spitzkoppe to Etosha NP
Enjoy the beautiful desert landscapes unfold on your way to Etosha National Park, passing the Himba, Herero and Damara people selling local arts. Arrive into Etosha National Park and take a short safari drive in search of a wide variety of wildlife. After sunset, watch animals at the watering holes near the camping area. Some free time at night allows for the option of a night safari in an open vehicle.

Day 11  Etosha NP
A full day of safari lies ahead for you today as you set off into the wilds of Etosha National Park. More than 100 species of mammals call Etosha home, including lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, blue wildebeest, springbok, zebra, and hyenas. Keep your camera ready and go wild!

Day 12  Etosha NP to Waterberg Plateau
Journey south from Etosha to the Waterberg Plateau. The afternoon is free to spend at leisure, perhaps choose to go hiking the trails of the national park, relax by the pool or opt for another wildlife safari drive.

Day 13  Waterberg Plateau to Windhoek
Leave Waterberg Plateau and continue south through the Namibian countryside to Windhoek. Enjoy lunch at a G Adventures supported Penduka Village Restaurant & Shop.

Day 14  Windhoek to D’kar, Botswana
Travel through the eastern part of Namibia as you cross into Botswana, travelling into the heart of the Kalahari. Arrive at the campsite in the early evening, just in time for an optional 'Bushman Walk'. Experience the ancient dance rituals of the San Bushmen around the campfire at night.

Day 15  D’kar to Maun
Continue from the Kalahari towards Maun, arriving around lunchtime. In the afternoon, take an optional scenic flight over the Okavango Delta, see a variety of wildlife and marvel at the vast delta basin.

Day 16  Maun to Okavango Delta
Hop into safari vehicles and head to the river for a cruise in a traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) deep into the delta. Later, arrive at your bush camp to set up camp in time for lunch followed by a wildlife walk in the afternoon. In the evening relax by the campfire with a sundowner.

Day 17  Okavango Delta to Gweta
Enjoy the sunrise on an early wildlife walk then return to Maun. Pack your things and jump into the Lando as you hit the road of ancient baobab trees to Gweta. Arrive at your campsite in the afternoon and enjoy a walk around the area, swim in the pool and a proper shower after a night in the bush.

Day 18  Gweta to Kasane
Journey to the area of Chobe National Park, home to the largest elephant population in Southern Africa. The best way to appreciate the area’s thousands of resident elephants, crocodiles and hippos, is with an optional sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River.

Day 19  Kasane to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Head to the final country of your Southern African trip, Zimbabwe. Continue on to the town Victoria Falls, a great base to see the falls and take part in some exciting activities.

Day 20  Victoria Falls
Spend the day exploring the Victoria Falls area, a great base to see both natural wonders and take part in some thrilling activities. Choose to raft the white-waters of the mighty Zambezi, or for the more adventurous, a bungee jump from the Victoria Falls Bridge over the Zambezi River. Hear the rush of Victoria Falls as you enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.
