Itinerary
Day 1 Windhoek
On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Windhoek to Kalahari Desert
Collect your car and travel south to the Kalahari where red sand is interspersed with yellow grasses and acacia trees.
Day 3 Kalahari Desert to Fish River Canyon
Today head to the awe-inspiring Fish River Canyon as you journey further south into the rolling plains. Stop en route at the quiver tree forest at Keetmanshoop.
Day 4 Fish River Canyon
Explore this dramatic canyon by hiking along the ridge keeping an eye out for baboons, antelopes and even the elusive leopard.
Day 5 Fish River Canyon to Helmeringhausen
Head north to Helmeringhausen, a quaint settlement situated at the foot of the Tiras Mountains.
Day 6 Helmeringhausen
Enjoy a day of relaxing and soaking up views of the rolling hills, or choose from an array of activities on offer (payable locally).
Day 7 Helmeringhausen to Namib Desert
On today’s drive you will pass long stretches of grass plains, punctuated with towering mountains.
Day 8 Namib Desert
Rise early to witness the morning sun over Sossusvlei, taking a scenic drive to these towering dunes. Next visit Sesriem Canyon and atmospheric Deadvlei.
Day 9 Namib Desert to Swakopmund
Drive via Namib-Naukluft National Park to Swakopmund, stopping to enjoy the breathtaking scenery en route.
Day 10 Swakopmund
Explore this German colonial town, famous for adventurous activities. A host of exciting excursions can be booked locally.
Day 11 Swakopmund to Erongo Region
Drive east towards the picturesque Erongo Mountain Range. You will have the chance to visit an authentic San village, a community of indigenous hunter-gatherers.
Day 12 Erongo Region to Damaraland
Continue into Damaraland and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein. This site boasts over 2,500 rock paintings and engravings, some of which are 10,000 years old.
Day 13 Damaraland to Etosha NP
Visit a village of the Himba people, one of Namibia’s last truly nomadic tribes. Venture north to your lodge on the southern edge of Etosha National Park.
Day 14 Etosha NP
Etosha is home to 4 of the Big 5 – elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. Head into the park and stop at a waterhole to look for game before continuing to your next lodge just east of the park.
Day 15 Etosha NP
Drive early into the park to see the wildlife at their most active. Spend the day observing the numerous animal and bird species that frequent the waterholes.
Day 16 Etosha NP to Okonjima NR
Travel south through the country’s main agricultural region to Okonjima. Pay a visit to the AfriCat Foundation or explore one of many scenic walking trails.
Day 17 Okonjima NR to Windhoek
Return to Windhoek at your own pace, with the rest of the day free to explore.
Day 18 Windhoek
Head to the airport for your onward flight.
