Day 2 Windhoek to Namib Desert
Collect your car and drive south into the heart of the Namib Desert with its majestic dunes and awe-inspiring landscapes. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 3 Namib Desert
Rise early and drive into the desert to see the sweeping dunes of Sossusvlei. Visit Deadvlei, a surreal white clay pan where only the ancient skeletons of trees remain. Later head to Sesriem Canyon and take a walk through the towering walls of this narrow gorge.
Day 4 Namib Desert to Swakopmund
Travel through the Namib-Naukluft National Park to Swakopmund. Make a stop en route at the arid Welwitschia Plains and the aptly named Moon Landscape.
Day 5 Swakopmund
This coastal town is a hub for adventure and offers a host of activities including sandboarding, parasailing, scenic flights and dolphin cruises in nearby Walvis Bay, all of which are payable locally.
Day 6 Swakopmund to Damaraland
Continue to Damaraland, stopping at the huge fur seal colony at Cape Cross. On arrival opt to visit the unusual formation of the Dolerite ‘Organ Pipes’ before making your way to Burnt Mountain, which glows with the changing colours of the sunset.
Day 7 Damaraland to Etosha NP
After breakfast drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein to marvel at over 2,500 Bushman rock carvings and paintings, dating back over 10,000 years. Continue to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most impressive reserves.
Day 8 Etosha NP
Head into the park in the early morning to watch the animals at their most active. The park surrounds Etosha Pan, a salt desert which is home to 4 of the Big 5 – elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. Enjoy a full day in the park stopping by waterholes on the look out for wildlife. Later continue to your next lodge, just east of the park.
Day 9 Etosha NP
Spend a second full day in this incredible national park, visiting several different waterholes. All hold new surprises and may attract wildlife you have not seen on previous game drives.
Day 10 Etosha NP to Okonjima NR
Drive south through Namibia’s majestic Otavi mountain range to Okonjima Nature Reserve. This region is famous for the leopard and cheetah conservation projects at the AfriCat Foundation.
