Itinerary
Days 1-2 Marrakech
Land in Marrakech
and make your way to the hotel in time for a welcome meeting at 6pm. After
getting fitted for your bike the following morning take a ride around the
city to discover sites such as the Koutoubia Mosque and the Marrakech Medina
before boarding an overnight train to your next destination.
Day 3 Marrakech
to Tangier
Arrive early in
to Tangier and check in to your hotel before embarking on the days ride,
taking in the legendary Gottes d’Hercules (Caves of Hercules) and visiting
the famous 19th Century Lighthouse along the way. Head back to the city
in the afternoon and opt to relax in one of its cafes overlooking the ocean.
Days 4 -5 Tangier
to Chefchaouen
Swap the city
for the sea as you head towards the beachside village of Azla to begin
your ride. Follow the undulating coastal road, maybe even stopping for
a lunchtime swim, then finish at the ‘Blue City’ of Chefchaouen when
you will have the remainder of the day to explore at your leisure.
Days 6-7 Chefchaouen
to Fez
Depart to the
outskirts of Beni Hmed village where you will jump on your bike and ride
past the turquoise waters of the El Wahda Dam. After arriving in Fez, your
home for the next two nights, you can leave your bike on Day seven and
enjoy a walking tour of the city with ample time to explore after.
Day 8 Fez to
Midelt
An early rise
will help you avoid the heat and traffic as you leave Fez for the Middle
Atlas Mountains. The morning ride from Dayet Aoua to Aguelmame Sidi Ali
Lake will take you past red roofed houses and wooded hills then an afternoon
drive to will bring you to the Kasbah town of Midelt where the rest of
the day will be at your leisure.
Day 9 Midelt
to Merzouga
Embark on the
epic ride to Merzouga, passing along the banks of the Ziz River and the
cavernous Tunnel Zaabal before driving the remaining distance to your overnight
camp. From here board a camel and enjoy the sunset en route to the edge
of the Sahara Desert. Finish the day enjoying local cuisine and lively
music under the stars.
Day 10 Merzouga
to Todra Gorge
Drive to Tinghir
where you will start your day’s cycle through Todra Gorge, one of the
most spectacular natural sights in Morocco. Follow the Togdha River and
opt to take a further walk through the surrounding farmland before resting
at your spectacular kasbah for the evening.
Day 11 Todra
Gorge to Dades Gorge
Today’s ride
follows one of the best section of road in Morocco, from the hairpins of
Dades Gorge to the desolate Mgoun Valley. Stop along the way for tea with
a local nomadic family before arriving at a mountain gite where you will
stay for the night.
Day 12 Dades
Gorge to Ait Benhaddou
Leave the arid
surroundings for the dramatic Lake Mansour where you will ride and walk
to your base in the legendary Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage
Site which has been the setting for films and TV shows such as ‘Gladiator’
and ‘Game of Thrones’. In the afternoon you can even opt to enjoy a cooking
demonstration and learn the secrets of Moroccan tagine.
Day 13 Ait
Benhaddou to Marrakech
Your final cycle
of the trip takes you up in to the Atlas Mountains where you will then
drive through the spectacular Tiz n’Tichka Pass, the highest mountain
pass in North Africa. Once you have enjoyed refreshments and taken photos,
say goodbye to your support crew and head back to Marrakech for a celebratory
dinner.
Day 14 Marrakech
Depart after breakfast
and catch your flight home.
