Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive into Nairobi at any time and meet your fellow travellers this evening during a welcome meeting.
Day 2 Nairobi to Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania
Hop into your overland truck and cross the border into Tanzania. Get off the beaten track as you travel to Mto wa Mbu, a snapshot of small town Tanzanian life.
Days 3-4 Mto wa Mbu to Serengeti NP
Journey to the Ngorongoro Crater, a perfectly intact volcanic crater brimming with wildlife. Enjoy a safari and be on the lookout for black rhinos, lions, leopards, impalas and zebras, before continuing your journey to Serengeti National Park. On day 4, embark on game drives in search of the Big 5 or perhaps search for wildlife from the skies on an optional hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.
Day 5 Serengeti NP to Mto wa Mbu
Rise early for a final game drive through the national park, before returning to Mto wa Mbu for a guided stroll through the farming community.
Day 6 Mto wa Mbu to Usambara Mountains
Continue your journey to the remote Usambara Mountains via a short stop in Arusha.
Day 7 Usambara Mountains
Explore the beautiful mountains today, an unspoilt area that few tourists visit. Hike to the gorgeous Irente viewpoint, before visiting a local cultural project to experience traditional hospitality.
Day 8 Usambara Mountains to Dar es Salaam
Leave the mountains behind and head to the coast for some time to relax on the beaches south of Dar es Salaam.
Day 9 Dar es Salaam to Stone Town, Zanzibar
Board a ferry and depart for Zanzibar, known as the ‘spice island’. Enjoy free time to explore the exotic port of Stone Town.
Days 10-11 Stone Town to Northern Beaches
Enjoy an optional guided tour of the spice plantations and learn about the island’s spice trade. Take the opportunity to sample spices such as cinnamon, vanilla and ginger in tea, before continuing north to the sparkling blue sea of the Indian Ocean where you’ll spend two nights. Day 11 is free to relax on the white sands of the northern beaches or for an optional snorkelling trip.
Day 12 Northern Beaches to Stone Town
Travel back to Stone Town where your tour comes to an end.
