Journey
The Andean Explorer journeys between Cusco, Lake Titicaca and Arequipa and, as the only high-end sleeper service in South America, it is the ultimate way to travel in style. Below are details of the two night Peruvian Highlands journey which encompasses all three magnificent destinations. It is possible to book this trip in reverse or, if you are short on time, a single night journey between Cusco and Lake Titicaca, please ask your travel consultant for details about these options.
Peruvian Highlands - The Journey
Bid farewell to Cusco and settle into your comfortable cabin for the voyage southeast to Lake Titicaca. Take in the views of the stunning La Raya mountain range before arriving in Puno in the evening for an overnight stop. Rise early to witness a breathtaking sunrise across Lake Titicaca and join an exciting excursion on this dazzling lake.
Explore the man-made Uros Islands and scenic Taquile Island for a glimpse of traditional life before returning to the train in time for afternoon tea. Spend your second night on board as you journey west.
On the last day of this wonderful adventure visit spellbinding Lake Lagunillas and Sumbay Caves, home to 8,000 year old cave paintings. Arrive into Cañahuas and choose to disembark for a stay on the edge of the Colca Canyon at the 5★ Las Casitas, A Belmond Hotel, where alpacas roam the grounds freely. Alternatively, continue on the train and finish your journey in the beautiful ‘White City’ of Arequipa.

Life on Board
Spend your time relaxing in your cabin or mingle with fellow passengers in the lounge car.
Alternatively, head to the open-sided observation car which is the perfect place to breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the views. The two dining cars offer sophisticated Peruvian cuisine and there is even an onboard spa where guests can unwind after a day of outdoor activity.
Each of the 35 cabins is tastefully furnished with Peruvian accents and all are en suite.
Bunk bed cabins are compact and we recommend upgrading to at least a Twin Bed Cabin which is larger and features two adjacent ground level beds which are converted into a comfortable seating area during the day.
Suites are more spacious and benefit from fixed beds and a separate sitting area.
