Trailfinders' Beth Ellison gives an insight into Sheraton Waikiki Hotel
Sheraton Waikiki Hotel Expert Review
Beth Ellison
Having just undergone a multi-million dollar refurbishment, the refreshed Sheraton is an excellent choice in Waikiki for those wanting to be in the thick of the action with lots of facilities. With the distinction of being one of only four true beach front hotels in Waikiki, as well as boasting an incredible family pool with waterslides and a lovely adults only infinity pool, it's a hotel that would suit almost anyone. I would say the exception would be anyone looking for a more tranquil stay, as it's a very big hotel with quite a lively buzz throughout, but as someone who often prefers smaller hotels I was really pleasantly surprised by the Sheraton.
Breakfast at the hotel is a la carte, not buffet, and was a very good standard. If you want to mix it up (or sample a delicious local Acai bowl), a locally renowned coffeeshop/wine bar called Island Vintage is less than 5 minutes' walk away.
Guests at the Sheraton are welcome to use facilities at the adjoining Royal Hawaiian Hotel and Moana Surfrider, which is an added bonus. You can also charge meals and drinks back to the Sheraton from any of their bars/restaurants.
Top tip: Views over Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head in the distance are really stunning - particularly at sunrise and sunset - so if budget allows definitely upgrade to an Oceanfront Room, a High Oceanfront Room or Diamond Head Oceanfront room.
