El Dorado Reserve

El Dorado Nature Reserve is located a 3 hour drive from Santa Marta in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and is one of the most important birding sites in South America. The hotel offers many walking trails to spot the endemic bird species, mammals and wildlife that live in the area, as well as the Sierra Nevada eco-centre which supports the conservation of the area and has a lovely gift shop. The hotel’s restaurant serves delicious Colombian food and the bar is a great spot to enjoy the wonderful views over the Caribbean sea. The hotel has 10 rooms which are rustic in style and 5 Kogihabs (individual huts inspired by the architecture of the Kogui indigenous tribe) which have fantastic panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Please note: the Kogihabs are located a 15 minute walk from the main lodge and are not recommended for the less mobile.
