Sir Bani Yas Island, one of the UAE’s best kept secrets, is an island on the western outskirts of Abu Dhabi. First established as a Royal Nature Reserve in 1971 as a passion project by His Highness Sheikh Zayed, the island is home to over 11,000 free roaming animals from 30 species, many of which are classified as critically endangered or vulnerable to the wild. The carefully curated environment allows for a myriad of animals to live in harmony from gazelles, blackbuck antelope,
and oryx to cheetahs and giraffes. The area, now known as the Arabian Wildlife Park, is focused on the conservation and rewilding of the indigenous and non-indigenous wildlife with a goal of releasing them to repopulate the wild.

The no-fishing zone and government-controlled navigation routes has ensured that the waters are home to vibrant marine life as well as untouched coastal habitats that serve as breeding grounds for indigenous and settled migratory birds and turtles.

Al Sahel is situated within the Arabian Wildlife Park with an African inspired lodge experience and is an oasis surrounded by lush savannah and free roaming animals.
