This warm and charming homestay is a 90 minute drive from Darjeeling. Established in1859 by a Scottish tea company, elements of the estate’s Scottish heritage can still be seen today under its Indian owners. Glenburn endeavours to pamper its guests, from ‘bed tea’ in the morning through to hot water bottles in the evening. There are plenty of hiking opportunities in the surrounding countryside and tea plantation tours, cookery demonstrations and fishing excursions (own expense) can also be easily arranged. Each of the 8 rooms have been individually designed and are split between 2 connected bungalows. The original Burra Bungalow accommodated successive generations of planters and the rooms here are more colonial in style. Rooms in the Water Lily Bungalow have lovely mountain views.
Befitting its remote location, please note that the last few kilometres of the drive to the hotel are along a rough track and that due to the layout and design of this hotel we do not recommended it for the less mobile.
