Since we sent our first private touring clients on a journey through India many years ago, we have sent thousands of people on Trailfinders Private Tours to over 30 different countries. From the captivating Peruvian Highlands to the princely palaces and temples of India’s golden triangle and the wildlife rich rainforests of Costa Rica to the vast plains of the Serengeti – you name it, you can go there with a Trailfinders private tour.

With more people booking private touring holidays than ever before, read on to find out why so many people are choosing a Trailfinders Private Tour.

1. Expert local guides

Whether you are a first time traveller or a seasoned veteran, Trailfinders Private Touring allows you to experience the very best from your travels with the assistance and support of expert local guides on a holiday that is tailored to you and your travel companions.  We’ve identified the best professional, trained drivers and knowledgeable, experienced guides who will bring your holiday to life. They will share their wisdom and tales with you and provide fascinating insights into the destination – the knowledge gained from your guide will stay with you forever.

The guide really got to know us and gave us a great insight into everyday life in Cambodia as well as great recommendations for dinner etc. Very comfortable vehicle throughout, and the driver was very friendly - always had a cool bottle of water or a cold towel for us when we got back to the car.

All of the guides had a real passion for their job and excellent knowledge. They can spot things from impossible distances and they really bring the environment to life.

Our guide was excellent, a fountain of knowledge without being imposing with it or boring. Gave us great advice on places to go and always checked that we were ok and seeing what we wanted.

2. Hassle free travel

Trailfinders Private Tours allow you to enjoy a completely hassle and stress free holiday, leaving you more time to enjoy the things that matter. Your guide will lead you through a chaotic Indian train station and join the scrum for tickets while you wait in a cool, shady corner and take you through the crowds straight to your seat. They’ll tell you the quietest times to visit popular sites, take you to the best view points and may even check you into your hotel. TF Private Tours are also great for those who may need extra assistance, you’re in no rush so you are guaranteed to feel more relaxed and get additional assistance throughout.

'Welcome back to Delhi Ms Hawes' - the welcome words as I stepped down from my train carriage onto the platform in Delhi's huge, frantic and totally chaotic central train station. Our local rep had met me literally at the carriage door and I was nimbly escorted through the crowds to my waiting chauffeur car where cold towels, cool drinks and welcome air-con were waiting. This service pretty much sums up a private tour in India. You are immersed right into the thick of things, but with someone there to 'hold your hand'. Absolutely everything is taken care of for you, but there's still have plenty of time to do your own thing - with the benefit of your guides acting as your own private concierges!

The private tour service worked perfectly in Nepal, being greeted on arrival after a long flight was exceptional. The standard of the cars and drivers where brilliant, very clean and spacious, a parallel opposite to the local taxis!

3. Interact with the locals

Private tours provide a more immersive experience than most holidays, allowing you to connect and interact with the people of the countries you visit. Your guide adds rich insights and authentic encounters to your holiday and is always happy to introduce you to the locals, whether it’s a coconut seller on the side of the street or an artisan in a market, these human interactions are what makes travel so enriching. The world often opens up more when travelling with a guide and you can gain access to exclusive experiences such as dinner with a Maiko in Japan or learning about Vietnam’s war history through the memories of a Veteran.

4. Expertly created itineraries

We have many carefully created itineraries that have been expertly put together allowing you to benefit from our years of experience and knowledge. These itineraries include the key highlights of the destination and the best ways to experience the sights that drew you to the country in the first place. Choose one of our suggested itineraries or tweak them slightly to suit you, perhaps adding in an extra day to relax or upgrading your hotels. Our expert travel consultants share an unrivalled passion for their destinations of expertise with unbeatable knowledge making them the very best in the business.

5. Unique experiences tailored to your interests

If our suggested itineraries aren’t perfect for you, choose to create a completely made to measure tour and take in exactly what interests you the most. 6. Unique accommodation

All our private tours include comfortable hotels that we can vouch for in excellent locations. We also offer a wide range of accommodation ranging from magnificent fortresses and palaces to charming colonial bungalows and remote lodges. You can easily mix it up – perhaps you fancy staying in a small historic property one night, a jungle lodge for a few days and then a chic beachside hotel.

7. Flexibility

When planning a holiday, the flexibility and choice afforded by a Trailfinders Private Tour is unbeatable. Choose the ideal departure day, visit the places you want within the timeframe and budget available and in certain destinations you can also decide between shared and private.

While your holiday will always be carefully planned in advance, we appreciate that once on the ground you may wish to vary things. Perhaps you are particularly interested in a historical site, or you want to get back to your hotel for a dinner reservation, the tour can be adjusted locally as you do not need to gain the consensus of a large group. Within reason, when sightseeing is on a private basis, your guide will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

Superb first private tour experience. Our driver guide was knowledgeable and passionate about his work. He demonstrated much flexibility to amend our plans at short notice in a few instances. A fantastic driver (very much a requirement in Sri Lanka..) whom liaised well with everybody we encountered. Had a few recommendations of his own which were slightly off the beaten track which went down a storm.

Each day of sightseeing was adjusted slightly to make the best of the weather which was great.

8. Mix up your standard

Hand pick your hotels and tailor them to suit your tastes and budget. Perhaps you want to choose economical options for the majority of the trip but splash out for a few days at the end? Maybe you’ve always dreamed of staying at a certain hotel and want to treat yourself or it’s your honeymoon or once in a lifetime retirement holiday and you only want the best of the best – our expert travel consultants can mix and match your accommodation exactly how you choose.

9. Make your own group

If you’re looking for the reassurance and experiences gained from a guide but don’t want to travel with a group of people you don’t know then Trailfinders Private Tours are for you. Take a romantic private touring honeymoon to magical Sri Lanka or a family adventure in captivating Peru. Perhaps you want to travel with a group of friends or bring the grandparents along – you choose who you hang out with on a Trailfinders Private Tour as lasting memories are created with those you love.

9. Make your own group

10. Set your own pace

The beauty of a private tour is that you’re not tied to a fixed timetable. If you’re an early riser, there is (often!) no need to set off at the crack of dawn and equally if you are particularly fascinated or intrigued with a particular destination, linger longer and soak up the atmosphere. Perhaps you want to cram as much into two weeks as possible or you prefer to take things slow and really get to know a destination. It is also popular to add a few days at leisure into your holiday giving the opportunity to completely relax and enjoy a particular hotel.
