Itinerary

Days 1-2 Los Angeles
Welcome to the ‘City of Angels’! What better place to start your ultimate American road trip than by walking in the footsteps of the stars as you explore the sights of Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the famous LA beaches.

Days 3-4 Los Angeles to Palm Desert
Are you ready to hit the open road? Well pick up your Cruise America campervan and make your way through the San Bernardino Valley to the oasis of Palm Desert. Do a spot of shopping or admire the views from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, while also taking the time to relax poolside soaking up some rays as you have a long road ahead.

Day 5 Palm Desert to Needles
Where the Mojave and Colorado Deserts meet, lies an usual world of flora and fauna that has to be seen to be believed! Despite its appearance, Joshua Tree National Park has become an iconic symbol of the state of California so an exploration here is a must en route to the shores of Lake Havasu just on the border of Arizona.

Days 6-7 Needles to Las Vegas
Veer off course slightly and head north to the glittering lights of Vegas. You can’t come all this way and not try your luck in one of the many famous casinos after all! Staying in the only RV Park on The Strip, you have a great base to explore the sights of this lively city from its thriving foodie scene, magical shows and unique experiences.

Days 8-9 Las Vegas to Grand Canyon NP
Tick one of the seven natural wonders of the world off your bucket list as today, you head to the mightiest of them all – the Grand Canyon. However you decide to explore whether it be by the Grand Canyon Railway, a 4x4 jeep tour, hike or taking to the skies, this mesmerising sight will be etched into your memory for years to come.

Day 10 Grand Canyon NP to Gallup
Get ready as once you get to Winslow Arizona, you will officially be on the famed Route 66. After a slight detour to see the Meteor Crater National Landmark, continue on this famed road through the painted desert of the Petrified Forest to Gallup.

Day 11 Gallup to Albuquerque
Some say that Gallup, is the ‘Indian Capital of the World’ due to being located in the heart of Native American land. With over 70% of all authentic Native American art being produced here, soak up the history and culture of the area before heading to the largest city in New Mexico.

Day 12 Albuquerque to Tucumcari
Next up, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities of the US, Santa Fe. Experience New Mexico at its finest with stunning pastel colours, Native American architecture and desert landscapes as far as the eye can see. Head out of the mountains and continue on Route 66 to the typical small town of Tucumcari.

Day 13 Tucumcari to Elk City
Gear yourself for a long drive today across the Texas Panhandle, but make sure you take advantage of the stops along the way to Oklahoma. Sweet Marie is waiting for you in Amarillo, while antique and boutique stores plus typical American diners dot the route. Before arriving at your campsite in Elk City, make sure you visit Palo Duro Canyon and get your cowboy on with a horseback tour.

Days 14-15 Elk City to Oklahoma City
This is your last day on the Mother Road that is Route 66, but the path to Oklahoma City is the beating heart of this legendary route littered with typical townships and unmissable delights like the mouth-watering fried onion burgers in El Reno. In the city itself, pay a visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum to see mock frontier village displays of life in the Wild West.

Day 16 Oklahoma City to Fort Smith
Watch as the scenery changes from the open plains of Oklahoma, to the rolling wooden hills of the Ozark Mountains as you head to the border with Arkansas. En route, take a slight detour to Tahlequah, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. Wander through the original historic township and admire the unique street signs that are written in English and Cherokee.

Day 17 Fort Smith to Little Rock
Many people bypass Arkansas, but with its abundance of parks and wilderness areas, plus being the birthplace of Bill Clinton there is plenty to discover in this small state! Visit Little Rock Central High School to learn how nine students made such an impact on the Civil Rights Movement as well as seeing a replica of the Oval Office in the Clinton Presidential Library.

Days 18-19 Little Rock to Memphis
Crossing the mighty Mississippi River into Memphis is an experience within itself, but if you have a hunk o’ burnin’ love for all things Elvis, then you are in for a treat. Head to the King’s Graceland and set up home for the next 2 nights before experiencing all things Elvis as you explore his former home. In Memphis itself, ensure you pay a visit to Sun Studios and BB King’s on Beale Street for some great live music.

Days 20-21 Memphis to Nashville
From the home of Rock n roll to the home of Country music, Nashville. A visit here is not complete without a hoedown on Honky Tonk Broadway or catching a show at the Grand Ole Opry, where Dolly Parton has graced the stage many a time.

Day 22 Nashville to Gatlinburg
After a few big cities to explore, it’s time to get back to nature and head to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, before continuing to Knoxville, the Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If you’re still in country music mode, then a visit to Dollywood has to be on the list!

Day 23 Gatlinburg to Lexington
World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the drive through the Great Smoky Mountains is sure to be a special one. But wait, there’s even more incredible scenery as you then join the Blue Ridge Parkway en route to Virginia. Take your time and soak up the incredible scenery, while perhaps stopping en route for an activity such as white water rafting or even a helicopter flight.

Days 24-25 Lexington to Washington DC
Continuing along the Blue Ridge Parkway into Shenandoah National Park with endless opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing, plus the opportunity to drive the iconic Skyline Drive en route to the nation’s capital. From your base, exploration of Washington DC couldn’t be simpler as the sightseeing buses stop outside the gates so pay a visit to the White House, Capitol Hill and pay your respects at the Washington Memorial.

Day 26 Washington DC to Atlantic City
Cross through Baltimore and spend some time in Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall to see where the forefathers signed the US Constitution, before heading to Atlantic City where you can officially say, you have travelled coast to coast across the United States of America!

Days 27-30 Atlantic City to New York City
The perfect way to end your epic road trip – 3 nights in the city that never sleeps! After dropping off your camper, do a spot of shopping, see the sights, catch a show and pay a visit to Lady Liberty to round off your time in the US.
