Itinerary

Days 1-3  Chicago
Arrive into Chicago; America’s ‘Second City’ is blessed with a beautiful lakeside setting and incredible skyscrapers as well as world-class museums and fantastic sightseeing.

Day 4  Chicago to Milwaukee
Pick up your car and travel into Wisconsin to the famous brewing city of Milwaukee.

Day 5  Milwaukee
Visit the Harley Davidson Museum to learn about this American icon or celebrate the city’s Germanic heritage with a beer and bratwurst in one of the many pubs of the Old World Third Street district.

Day 6  Milwaukee to Green Bay
The friendly city of Green Bay is famous for its American football team, the Green Bay Packers. Join the ‘Cheeseheads’ in supporting their team on game day. Perhaps visit the National Railroad Museum or the Botanical Gardens.

Day 7  Door County
A short distance from Green Bay is delightful Door County. This 75 mile long peninsula is known as the ‘Cape Cod of the Midwest’ and boasts 5 state parks, a beautiful lakeside shoreline, quaint villages and a smattering of lighthouses.

Day 8  Green Bay to Marquette
Further north, on the banks of Lake Superior, is the relaxed university city of Marquette. Kick back on the city beach or enjoy one of the many summertime festivals.

Day 9  Marquette to Mackinaw City
Travel onwards to the charming town of Mackinaw City, which overlooks both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Day 10  Mackinac Island
Take the 20 minute ferry (payable locally) over to idyllic Mackinac Island and step back in time. No cars are allowed on the island, so soak up the Victorian era architecture on a bike or horse-drawn carriage. It’s renowned for its fudge shops and the island is fondly known as the ‘Fudge Capital of the World’.

Day 11  Mackinaw City to Traverse City
Continue south to laidback Traverse City which is famed as the ‘Cherry Capital of the World’ and a great base for outdoor adventures.

Day 12  Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Nearby are the pristine sand dunes and freshwater beaches of the wonderful and unique Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Day 13  Traverse City to Holland
Next stop is a picturesque town that’s named after, and very much celebrates its Dutch heritage – there’s even a springtime Tulip festival and an authentic Dutch windmill.

Day 14  Holland
Enjoy Holland’s Dutch-inspired attractions or head out and enjoy the nearby lakeside attractions of beautiful Oval Beach and Saugatuck Dunes State Park.

Day 15  Holland to Chicago
Complete the loop of mighty Lake Michigan by returning to Chicago for your flight home.
