Itinerary
Day 1 Havana
Arrive in Havana and transfer to your simple guesthouse. This evening, meet with your fellow travellers and tour guide for a tour briefing.
Day 2 Havana to Soroa
Rise early and make the short trip to your bike fitting. Enjoy a gentle ride around Old Havana passing the Plaza de la Revolucion, John Lennon Park and the Capitol Building before ending at Parque Cespedes. Break for lunch before a walking tour of this fascinating city. Finally, transfer to Soroa, surrounded by lush countryside and your home for two nights.
Day 3 Soroa
Enjoy a morning visit to the Soroa Orchid Garden, featuring 250 native species of plants, attracting some diverse birdlife. From here, cycle on paved roads and observe the slow pace of country life as you share the road with horse drawn carriages and American vintage cars. Stop by San Juan River for lunch and a refreshing swim. Afterwards, travel by vehicle to the lakeside village of Las Terrazas and visit the former home of Polo Montañez, a renowned Cuban musician.
Day 4 Soroa to Viñales
Drive to Cueva de los Portales, where Che Guevara moved the headquarters of the Western Army to in 1962. After exploring the cave, hop on your bike for the ride to Viñales, a hilly but spectacular ride through the verdant landscapes. Stop by a small tobacco farm, where you’ll see how the tobacco is dried and rolled into cigars. Continue to Viñales where you’ll visit a hillside farm for a local dinner.
Day 5 Viñales
The day begins with a visit to the remarkable Mural de la Prehistoria, an enormous mural that took 18 artists 4 years to complete! Jump on the bike and cycle to Cayo Jutias, home to sublime white beaches. The ride over tough terrain is definitely worth it when you have the chance to swim in the warm waters off the coast. Later, take the support vehicle back to Viñales for the night.
Day 6 Viñales to Havana
Today’s morning ride is gently undulating and you’ll pass through rural landscapes and small towns. Enjoy climbing one last hill before a lunch stop marks the end of your cycling. Take a two hour road transfer to Havana where you have a free afternoon to explore at your own leisure.
Day 7 Havana
Your cycling adventure comes to an end this morning.
