Voyage Through the Land of Volcanoes

Day 1  Yogyakarta                      
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel and this evening embark on an exciting street food tour.                      

Day 2  Yogyakarta                
Start with a guided tour of impressive Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world. This afternoon get a taste for local life with a ride on a horse-drawn cart through a nearby village.                      

Day 3  Yogyakarta              
Visit the ornate Sultan’s Palace with its elegant pavilions before heading to a batik workshop to learn about this ancient art have a go at creating your own masterpiece.

Day 4  Yogyakarta                
This morning attend a leather puppet making class, learning the intricate work that goes into this preserved craft. Later enjoy a visit to a local chocolate factory and sample the delicious produce.                      

Day 5  Yogyakarta to Mount Bromo      
Catch an early train for the scenic journey to Jombang. Continue by road to Ngadisari, gateway to Mount Bromo.

Day 6  Mount Bromo to Ijen Plateau                  
Rise at 3.30am to watch the sunrise over the spectacular Mount Bromo, and take a short walk through the lunar-like landscape to the impressive crater rim. After breakfast back at the hotel, set off on the long but beautiful drive to the Ijen Plateau.                      

Day 7  Ijen Plateau            
Wake up early for a 3km trek to the magnificent Ijen Crater for incredible views of the turquoise crater lake and dramatic volcanic landscape.              

Day 8  Ijen Plateau to Denpasar, Bali                  
Today catch the ferry to Bali and continue by road to Denpasar airport or one of our beach resorts.
