Itinerary
Day 1 Georgetown
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Georgetown
Enjoy a full day tour of Guyana’s thriving capital city. See the highlights including the impressive gothic style St George’s Cathedral, the Bourda Market and the beautiful Botanical Gardens. There will also be the chance to try some delicious Guyanese cuisine.
Day 3 Georgetown & Kaieteur Falls
Rise early to see the abundant birdlife in the Botanical Gardens at dawn. Later see one of Guyana's most impressive natural wonders, the remarkable Kaieteur Falls. Surrounded by vast rainforest, this is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world and sure to make for an unforgettable day.
Day 4 Georgetown to Iwokrama Forest Reserve
Leave the Atlantic coast behind and enjoy spectacular views as you fly over the pristine jungle to the Iwokrama Forest Reserve. Head into the treetops and explore the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway, a series of suspension bridges which are up to 30m above the forest floor.
Day 5 Iwokrama Forest Reserve
Wake before dawn to see the sunrise over the canopy and spot a variety of birds who welcome in another day. Explore the forest trails and enjoy being surrounded by vast rainforest.
Day 6 Iwokrama Forest Reserve to Rupununi Region
Journey from Iwokrama to the savannahs of the Rupununi Region. Enroute stop to look for the vibrant Guianan cock-of-the-rock and learn how the plants found in the rainforest are used for medicinal purposes.
Day 7 Rupununi Region to Georgetown
Leave the wilderness behind as you fly back to the city of Georgetown. Take a cruise along the Demerara River and learn about the importance of the river to the city's development and watch flocks of colourful birds return to roost as the sun sets.
Day 8 Georgetown
Spend the day at leisure before transferring to the airport in time for your flight.
Departs: Thursdays.
