Itinerary
Day 1 Central Valley
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in the lush Central Valley.
Day 2 Central Valley to Tenorio Volcano NP
Drive north to your hotel just outside the Tenorio Volcano National Park.
Day 3 Tenorio Volcano NP
Discover beautiful Rio Celeste Waterfall and the turquoise Blue Lagoon, as well as encountering hot springs and incredible volcano views on a half day rainforest hike.
Day 4 Tenorio Volcano NP to Sarapiquí Valley
Enjoy a morning at leisure before departing for the Sarapiquí Valley.
Day 5 Sarapiquí Valley
Visit La Selva Biological Station, one of the world’s most important tropical research sites. Take a guided tour of the pristine rainforest which is home to over half of the bird species in Costa Rica.
Day 6 Sarapiquí Valley to Selva Bananito
Head towards the Caribbean coast and the Selva Baninito Lodge, a rustic eco-lodge set in a private jungle reserve.
Days 7-8 Selva Bananito
Delve into jungle life with two full days exploring the reserve. Wake to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys and enjoy home cooked meals in the ranch. Activities include a guided hikes, birdwatching tours and horse riding.
Day 9 Selva Bananito to San Gerardo de Dota
Leave the jungle behind and travel into the highlands to the misty cloud forested region of San Gerardo de Dota. Keep a look out as you may catch glimpse of a sloth or a colourful toucan beak in the trees.
Day 10 San Gerardo de Dota
Enjoy a morning birdwatching tour in the cloud forest. There are over 200 species of birds here but for many the prize is catching a glimpse of the amazing resplendent quetzal! The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 11 San Gerardo de Dota to Golfo Dulce
Head to Golfito on the edge of the Golfo Dulce. On arrival you will be met by staff from your jungle lodge and transferred by boat for your three night stay. Rugged, scenic and incredibly bio-diverse, Golfo Dulce is a must for wildlife enthusiasts.
Days 12-13 Golfo Dulce
With two full days here you will really be able to immerse yourself in this unique environment. Kayak in the bay and hike into the Piedras Blancas National Park, which although lesser known than the Corcovado National Park is as equally diverse and fascinating.
Day 14 Golfo Dulce to San José
Return to Golfito by boat and fly to San José for your onward flight.
