Itinerary
Day 1 Ljubljana
Arrive into Ljubljana, and transfer to your hotel. Warm yourself up with a hearty Slovenian meal by the fireplace at one of the many inviting restaurants, nearby.
Day 2 Ljubljana
Start your day with a fascinating walk around the city centre, passing by the bright pink façade of the central church, strolling through bustling Congress Square and venturing inside the grand cathedral. Afterwards, hop on the funicular, taking you up the hillside to Ljubljana Castle – the city’s most well-known and epic attraction, the admission for which is included in your itinerary. At night, opt for a magical river boat ride along the main canal, admiring the city lights as you glide along.
Day 3 Ljubljana
Rise early for a visit to the enchanting Postojna Caves, included in your package. Your visit includes an exhilarating cave train ride and walking tour through the second-longest cave system in Slovenia. On your way back to Ljubljana, stop off at Predjama Castle, a medieval-era architectural feat, built against the side of a cliff and into a cave opening. In the evening why not treat yourself to an evening at Slovenia’s National Opera House?
Day 4 Ljubljana
In the morning, be transported to another world in the delightful snow-covered Tivoli gardens, bordering the city centre, which incorporates intriguing sculptures and historic buildings. For lunch, make your way to the city’s Central Market, a hive of activity, and pick up some appetising Slovenian home-made pastries and biscuits. In the afternoon, frequent Ljubljana’s National Gallery to view an exquisite display of artwork, from the High Middle Ages to the 20th Century.
Day 5 Bled
After a leisurely breakfast, meet your driver who will transfer you to Bled. After settling into your hotel, perhaps take a classic ‘fjakerji’ horse and carriage ride around Lake Bled, savouring the winter wonderland scenery that surrounds you. Tonight, enjoy a warm glass of traditional schnapps at one of the vibrant bars nearby.
Day 6 Bled
Today, join to the trail that leads up to Bled Castle, perched atop a magnificent hill with stunning vistas of the lake, forests and island. Take your time wandering through the historical castle rooms and museum, discovering the illustrious history of the area. Afterwards, stop by one of the many quaint cafes nearby to try the deliciously light and flaky local pastry – Bled Cream Cake.
Day 7 Bled
Take a ‘pletna’ boat crossing to the magnificent and oft photographed Bled Island, home to the striking Gothic-style Church of the Mother of God. Enjoy the seclusion and peacefulness of this beautiful island, and maybe make your wishes come true by ringing the legendary wishing bell in the church’s picturesque bell tower. Afterwards, sample some authentic Slovenian dumplings at a local eatery.
