Itinerary
Day 1 Narvik
Upon arrival, collect your car and travel to Narvik. Nestled between the mountains and fjords, Narvik is excellent base for exploring the great outdoors. Embark on a scenic hike, visit the Narvik War Museum, or take the cable car to the top of Mount Narvikfjellet for amazing panoramas of the Midnight Sun.
Day 2 Narvik to Svolvaer
At each turn enjoy incredible views on your drive to the Lofoten Islands, taking regular stops to appreciate the dramatic landscape. Your base is the charming fishing town of Svolvaer, the largest town in the islands.
Day 3 Svolvaer
This morning, admire the impressive fjords by sea on a silent cruise along Trollfjord and look out for sea eagles gliding through the sky. Later, enjoy stunning hikes nearby, or perhaps explore the area by car, passing picturesque fishing villages with aweinspiring mountain backdrops.
Day 4 Svolvaer
Known for unspoilt white sandy beaches, with turquoise waters and mountainous backdrops, head along the coast to admire some of the Lofoten Islands’ best. Drive to the beautiful Haukland Beach and from there set off on a scenic hike along the winding coast or via Mount Mannen for views from above, to Uttakleiv Beach.
Day 5 Svolvaer
Today drive down to the Lofoten Islands western tip passing some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. At the end of the road is the charming and wellpreserved fishing village of Å. Here, savour the views and perhaps enjoy a visit to the Lofoten Stockfish Museum.
Day 6 Svolvaer to Harstad
Drive to Harstad, a city with a fascinating Viking past.
Day 7 Harstad
Spend today hiking, cycling or kayaking at nearby beauty spots. Rich in history, head to the Trondenes Historical Centre to learn about the areas Viking and Middle Age past. From here, take the historical walking trail to see the medieval stone Trondenes Church, the northernmost of its kind, as well as further remnants of Viking life and the more recent Second World War.
Day 8 Harstad
Head to Harstad/Narvik airport for your onward journey.
