Itinerary
Day 1 Reykjavik
Arrive in Reykjavik and transfer to your hotel to join your travel director and fellow travellers for a welcome reception. This evening will be the first opportunity to search for the most spectacular light show on earth, the Aurora Borealis. Gaze in wonder as the night sky is filled with a breathtaking array of colours.
Day 2 Reykjavik to Vik
Journey through the stunning landscape of the south coast to Hellisheidavirkjun for a visit to the geothermal heat and electric power station. Continue your journey to the thundering powerful forces of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, before admiring the grandeur of Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull volcanoes en route to Vik.
Day 3 Vik to Fludir
Discover Iceland’s Golden Circle visiting some of the famous landmarks of this magical country. Taste rye bread from a geothermal bakery before experiencing the exploding hot springs of Geysir and Iceland’s very own Niagara Falls, Gullfoss. Visit a family run vegetable farm in Fridheimar and learn the processes behind Icelandic greenhouse horticulture, before sampling the sweet flavour of their lovingly-grown tomatoes.
Day 4 Fludir to Husafell
Travel to Thingvellir to tour the remarkable natural site which sits on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge line. Continue along the Viking trail to Borgarnes and learn about Iceland’s fascinating history at the Icelandic Settlement Centre. Marvel at the glorious views of Barnafoss waterfall and Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring as you continue to Husafell.
Day 5 Husafell to Reykjavik
Journey back to the capital and embark on a sightseeing tour of Old Reykjavik. Sights include the 19th Century parliament building, Hofdi House, Hallgrimskirkja Church and the colourful harbour. This afternoon is free to explore at your leisure.
Day 6 Blue Lagoon
Surrounded by lava fields and snow-capped mountains, the Blue Lagoon is a geothermal wonderland where you can bathe in the warm mineral-rich waters. Spend your last day relaxing in this natural phenomenon, before toasting your Icelandic adventure over dinner with your fellow travellers.
Day 7 Reykjavik
Transfer to Keflavik airport for your flight home.
N.B The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Whilst every opportunity will be taken to witness the spectacle, please be prepared that there is a possibility that they may not be seen.
