Itinerary
Day 1 Bocognano
Arrive in Ajaccio and transfer by rail to Bocognano, where you’ll stay in a family run hotel for the week. Upon arrival, embark on a walking tour with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 Tavera
Take a short local train ride to Tavera, before walking through fields and woodland to the ancient menhir monument. Continue to the ruins of a medieval fort overlooking the Gravona Valley for wonderful views, before walking back to Bocognano past peaceful woodland streams.
Day 3 Vivario
Today you’ll take the train to Vivario. Upon arrival, walk to the ruins of a French fort and enjoy mountain and valley views. Afterwards walk to Abri Southwell- site of one of the earliest known settlements in Cosica. Later, return by train to Bocognano.
Day 4 Corte
Take the train to Corte. Enjoy a gentle walk admiring views of the Tavignano Gorge. There may be a chance this afternoon to swim in some beautiful rock pools before exploring Corte at your own pace. Afterwards, returning to Bocognano.
Day 5 Bocognano
You’re free today to explore as you wish. The beaches of Ajaccio aren’t too far away, or you might wish to revisit Corte with its cobbled streets, fountains and chapels.
Day 6 Vizzavona
Travel to Vizzavona and walk a section of the GR20 trail to Bocca Palmente. This part of the trail includes sections through pine and beech forests, and wonderful views out to Monte D’Oro and the east coast.
Day 7 Gravona River
Start walking north, straight from your hotel, along quiet country lanes to Gravona River. Cross the river and travel the small, well-trodden path to the Gorge of Richjusa, offering excellent views across Bocagnano and giving a taste of the wilder climbs on the island. There may be time to swim in the river before making your way back to Bocagnano.
Day 8 Bocognano
Your tour ends after breakfast.
