Itinerary
Day 1 Chamonix, France
Make your way to your chalet accommodation just outside Chamonix, before a trek briefing from your tour leader.
Day 2 Col de Balme
Your first trek is on the Col de Balme slopes, where there are stunning views of Mont Blanc as well as into Switzerland. Take a short warm-up walk before the trail turns uphill on a zigzag path. As the trees thin out, the views get better and by late morning reach Aiguillette des Possettes, a stunning peak with superb panoramic views over the Chamonix Valley. The path continues to the Col des Possettes before winding down to La Tour.
Day 3 Col de Bel Lachat
Wind your way up mountain paths to the Bel Lachat Refuge located on the famous TMB and GR5 long distance routes. Cross through the beautiful and wild Carlaveyron Nature Reserve, before reaching the summit of Aiguillette des Houches for an amazing view across the Chamonix Valley to the Mont Blanc summit.
Day 4 Col de Voza
Transfer to the Les Contamines valley to start today’s hike. The valley path narrows and steepens as you climb up towards the Passerelle de Bionnassay, a dramatic suspension bridge spanning a white-water stream that tumbles from the Bionnassay glacier. In the afternoon, trek back to the valley floor or choose to take a more leisurely cable car ride.
Day 5 Chamonix
Today is at leisure to explore the area as you please. Your tour leader will be able to recommend other walking routes should you wish to walk independently, or you may prefer to relax in Chamonix and enjoy the café culture.
Day 6 Courmayeur, Italy
Drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel and enter Italy. Climb up to the Bonatti Refuge at just over 2,000m altitude. Following a dramatic path, high above the valley, take in spectacular views over Val Ferret then descend to Courmayeur where there’s time for a well-deserved ice cream.
Day 7 Lac Blanc, France
The Grand Balcon Sud is a stunning must-do walk and looks over to the Mont Blanc massif. The views of snowy peaks, soaring cliffs, fractured glaciers and lush green forests ensure this trek is a memorable one.
Day 8 Chamonix
Your tour ends after breakfast this morning.
