Itinerary
Day 1 Prague
Arrive into Prague, nicknamed ‘the City of a Hundred Spires’, before meeting your fellow travellers and travel director for a welcome reception.
Days 2-3 Prague
Delve into centuries of history with a guided walk of this remarkable city with a local specialist. Visit the final resting place of Bohemian kings at St Vitus Cathedral, set within the grounds of Prague Castle, before admiring the medieval Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square and the 14th Century Charles Bridge. Spend day three at leisure.
Day 4 Prague to Vienna
Travel south through lush Moravian landscapes to Bratislava. Visit the Old Town and continue to Vienna where you could perhaps join a Viennese concert this evening.
Days 5-6 Vienna
Enjoy a guided visit of the Habsburg’s royal collection of art and wonders before the doors open to the public this morning. Later, join a tour of Hofburg Palace, the official residence of the President of Austria with a local specialist and see sights such as the Parliament Building, the magnificent Opera House and St Stephen’s Cathedral. Day six is yours to explore at leisure.
Day 7 Vienna to Budapest
Journey along the Danube Bend, a narrow twisting valley in the pretty Carpathian Basin and stop en route in Esztergom to view Castle Hill, the domed Cathedral and St Thomas Hill. Continue through the scenic landscape to the architecturally beautiful city of Budapest.
Days 8-9 Budapest
Join a local specialist this morning for a walking tour through the winding lanes of Buda’s Castle District, the neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque Fisherman’s Bastion and the unique Matthias Church. In Pest, admire the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe. Pay tribute to the iconic chieftains of the Magyars in Heroes’ Square before an afternoon at leisure. Later, connect with the locals at a dinner with the Schieszl family and hear the stories behind their winery. Spend day nine at leisure.
Day 10 Budapest
After breakfast, your tour comes to an end.
