Itinerary
Days 1-3 Tokyo
Spend time exploring the world’s largest city on a fascinating private guided tour before a day at leisure.
Day 4 Tokyo to Fujikawaguchiko
Travel by bus to Lake Kawaguchi, one of the five lakes situated at the foot of Mount Fuji for remarkable views of the notoriously shy active volcano.
Days 5-7 Fujikawaguchiko to Kyoto
Continue onwards by train to Kyoto and discover this atmospheric city on a full day guided tour. The following day, visit the magnificent temples of Nara.
Day 8 Kyoto to Amanohashidate
Travel north to Kyoto by the Sea and spend the day in the delightful seaside town of Amanohashidate. Walk the natural sandbar, a 3km stretch of forested parkland and beach that cuts through the Miyazu Bay and is considered one of the ‘Three Best Scenic Views of Japan’. This evening sample the area’s famous seafood.
Day 9 Ine Village
Board a bus to idyllic Ine village and meander through the quaint streets where over 200 historic funyayas (boathouses) are tucked between mountains and a picturesque bay. Stop by a local sake brewery run by a woman master brewer and taste their famous pink tinted sake. End the day with a sea taxi tour of Ine Bay, learning about the history of this unique area.
Day 10 Amanohashidate to Kinosaki Onsen
This morning take one of three, hands-on cultural activities of your choice. Later, board a train to the hot spring town of Kinosaki Onsen, staying overnight in an authentic ryokan.
Day 11 Kinosaki Onsen to Okayama
Today is free at leisure to enjoy all or as many as you wish of Kinosaki's seven mystic onsen bathhouses (all of which are tattoo friendly)! Later on catch the train to Okayama.
Day 12 Okayama to Takamatsu
Explore the city at your leisure, perhaps visiting imposing Okayama Castle, also known as ‘Crow Castle’ for its striking black exterior and the renowned Korakuen Gardens. In the afternoon, head to Takamatsu.
Day 13 Takamatsu
Join a local guide and explore the phenomenal landscapes of Ritsurin Gardens by foot and boat. Proceed by train to a local bonsai farm to learn the secrets of the trade.
Day 14 Takamatsu to Osaka
Take the train to Osaka and later join our Flavours of Osaka tour.
Day 15 Osaka
Transfer to the airport.
Additional Options: Whilst in Okayama why not hop on the ferry to renowned Naoshima Island? Here you can immerse yourself in the unique blend of modern culture and exquisite natural surroundings. Visit the incredible art museums and their contemporary exhibitions as well as discover the eclectic work of Yayoi Kusama, including the famous yellow pumpkin sculpture.
