Itinerary
Days 1-2 Montréal
Your journey starts in the dynamic city of Montréal, the largest city in Québec. A stroll around the downtown area reveals an architectural fusion of historic cobbled streets and contemporary design. Discover its enticing restaurants and cosmopolitan arts and culture scene.
Day 3 Montréal to Québec City
Jump on board a VIA Rail train north for the journey to Québec City.
Day 4 Québec City
Québec is one of North America’s oldest and most picturesque cities, with a beautifully preserved fortified centre, perfect for exploring by foot. Maybe enjoy a local’s viewpoint while learning about the city’s history on a walking tour, before watching the city pass by from a delightful pavement café.
Day 5 Québec City to Moncton
Perhaps visit the Citadelle fortress and the adjoining Plains of Abraham, the site of an important British victory over the French in 1759 and now a national park. After dinner, take a taxi to the train station in Sainte-Foy, located 20 minutes from the old town. Late evening, depart on VIA Rail’s The Ocean train and settle into your cosy Sleeper Class Plus cabin for the overnight journey to Moncton.
Day 6 Moncton
After a comfortable night’s sleep, enjoy breakfast in The Ocean’s dining car before taking in the passing scenery. Upon arrival into Moncton at lunchtime, disembark and take a short taxi or a leisurely walk to your downtown hotel.
Day 7 Moncton
Enjoy a day at leisure in Moncton. Perhaps wander round Centennial Park or visit one of the city's museums or markets.
Day 8 Moncton to Halifax
After a relaxed morning in Moncton, make your way back to the station and continue your journey. Your train departs for Halifax at lunchtime, arriving in time to spend the evening in this lively maritime city.
Day 9 Halifax
Halifax is a thriving city, with an attractive harbourfront and hospitable locals. Enjoy the sea breeze and perhaps look out for whales and other marine life on a cruise of the harbour and surrounding waters. Be sure to sample a traditional lobster dinner and catch a live music performance or a local ceilidh dance.
Day 10 Halifax
After a final morning in this delightful city, it’s time to take a taxi to the airport for your flight home.
