Itinerary
Day 1 Halifax
Arrive into Halifax and transfer to your hotel. This evening, join your fellow travellers and travel director for a welcome reception overlooking the famous Public Gardens.
Day 2 Halifax
Enjoy a guided visit to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. From small craft boatbuilding to World War convoys, the days of sail to the age of steam and the Titanic to the Halifax explosion, hear the tales of the sea and discover Nova Scotia's relationship with seafaring. Later, join a local specialist for a tour of the city.
Day 3 Halifax to Baddeck
Visit the Millbrook Culture and Heritage Centre to learn of the legends of traditions of the Mi'kmaq people. After traversing the Canso Causeway to Braddeck, experience a traditional Ceilidh celebration this evening to embrace the local Celtic heritage.
Day 4 Cape Breton & The Cabot Trail
Soak up the dramatic coastal views and highland scenery as you wind through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. On top of the unspoilt beauty and sweeping coastal vistas of the Cabot Trail, keep your eyes peeled for moose, bald eagles and whales in the Gulf of St Lawrence.
Day 5 Baddeck to Charlottetown
Pay tribute to Alexander Graham Bell at the National Historic Site dedicated to his achievements, then cross the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. Pass pastoral landscapes and farmhouses en route to Charlottetown where you stay in a historic hotel.
Day 6 Charlottetown
With a local specialist, explore the Cradle of Confederation which inspired the children's classic, Anne of Green Gables. Later, meet the fourth generation owner of the Shaw hotel and enjoy lunch surrounded by the beauty of Brackley Bay.
Day 7 Charlottetown to Saint John
Return to New Brunswick and head to the waters of Shediac Bay to get a closer look at Acadian culture. With a local specialist, learn about old fishing techniques at the Lobster Fishery before sampling a traditional lobster lunch on board the boat. Continue south to the Bay of Fundy and visit the magnificently eroded Hopewell Rocks.
Day 8 Saint John to Lunenburg
Board a ferry this morning to cross the Bay of Fundy to Digby. Delve into the history of Le Grand Derangement, a tragic event in Acadian history at the Historic Site dedicated to its memory, before enjoying a tasting at a winery in LaHave River Valley, one of the earliest grape-growing regions in North America.
Day 9 Lunenburg
Discover the secrets of the UNSECO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg with a local specialist today as you visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and explore the decks of tall ships in harbour. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner.
Day 10 Lunenburg to Halifax
Breathe in the fresh ocean air as you stop at Peggy's Cove n St Margaret's Bay, an icon of this region of Canada. Continue to Halifax where your tour comes to an end.
